Like all the other positions, this position on the court is dynamic. However, there are a couple of different ways this position can be used, so therefore it is sometimes hard to define. You have the stretch 4 (power forward), where she can play the perimeter, shoot the long ball, attack from beyond the arc, and of course, go to work in the mid-range area. Then you have the back to the basket girls, the ones who work from block to block, eat in the painted area, and serve as pick n’ roll partners. No matter which type, this position is important due to the capacity a coach will ask them to do.
Being a power forward, you have to have skill. Not just ball handling, but also great footwork. They are sometimes viewed as the X factor or mismatch on the court. By being able to do multiple things, this position serves as the lynchpin that helps provide the team an edge over an opponent. From contributing on the boards on both ends, to guarding wings and bigs, this position can make or break a team especially in how they are utilized.

No matter what they are asked to do, they will go out and get the job done providing multiple statistic lines each and every night.
