As I close out the high school portion from my exciting and entertaining trip to Plainview, I’ll drop the middle school portion later on today with some solid next level prospects I’ll be keeping my eyes on because I love progression, yet this group just gave me a charge, well I didn’t take the charge because I was too into the upside these incoming freshmen showed me, as well as an 8th grader who celebrated her birthday in style

Chloe Chavez-5’5 CG (Panhandle)
Chavez is heady and comprehends things so well that I’m expecting her to make an impact really soon in high school because she can handle the ball under pressure, that’s a plus and she sees the floor under pressure, that’s another one but her court vision even in the open court was nice as she hit teammates on the money for potential assists but the potential she’s showing was even better because she can mix it up on the offensive end by creating her shot, you guessed it, under pressure, and dropping the mid to long-range and that long-range was deep
[player_tooltip player_id="307762" first="Sadie" last="Sanchez"]-5’3 PG (Randall)
Sanchez sold me at an Individual Showcase I covered a few months ago and my exact words were"she left a lasting first impression" because here’s the deal when you show poise under pressure, she added that against older players the next day at the tournament and watching her make those around her better is one of the reasons she was added to PGH Texas Watchlist but at the event, she scored acrobatically as usual off the dribble and with that body control and finishing after contact, that was nice so were her "threading the needle with passes" or showing the "no look" but even nicer was how she set the defender up multiple ways with an array of moves to drop the jumper, mid to long-range
Giselle Hernandez-5’0 G (Hereford)
Hernandez is also a heady point guard that plays within herself and understands something very important," how to control the tempo" and this is really good because she can push the ball and make 20 foot passes on the money or she can slow it down and run the set, keep in mind her size doesn’t matter because she can play and yes, I dropped the hashtag as quickly as she was dropping the jumper but I also liked the way she created her shot for that jumper as well as taking the defender with either hand to attack the rim to finish or hit teammates for assist opportunities

Arissa Alaniz-5’5 G (Hereford)
Alaniz had me singing Happy Birthday to myself because she definitely was a gift going against the older players, one more time, "it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against" and I don’t if she was thinking about cake and ice cream but her game was sweet as she played tough defense during the drills and that translated over to the 5 on 5 yet under the bright lights, aka games, she just showed a variety of moves including the spin, the HEZ as well as a slight step back to not only get her shot off but to knock it down. Her upside is very good because she doesn’t back down and has a solid skill-set
