The Hugh McBride Classic was loaded with talent from top to bottom. Here are the players who I faced in Week 1 that stood out for their respected teams.
Natalie Herrin Natalie Herrin 5'8" | PG Pierce County | 2022 State GA I 5’8 I PG I 2022 I Pierce County
Herrin drew the double team and face guard at the start of the game. High IQ guard that knows how to get open and take what the defense gave her. From the deep 3s behind the arc to cutting off screens. She has a high motor which allows to get her shots off no matter what defense you play against her. Herrin finished the night with 23 points.
Tivonna Myles I 5’9 I Wing I 2022 I Pierce County
Myles is the energizer. From attacking the basket strong to getting out in the passing lanes. She is the game changer for the Lady Bears. Always facing the teams best players and known as a lock down defender. She did all the little things to help her team get the victory.
Makayla Etheridge I 5’9 I SF I 2022 I Pierce County
Etheridge is a strong inside presence that knows how to score around the rim. Always in a position to make a play for her team. Etheridge crashed the boards hard and ended the game with a double double. Knows how to rebound in traffic and kick out to her teammates for open shots. Always getting to the 50/50 balls which allows her team extra positions on offense.
Macey Ansell I 5’11 I PF I 2022 I Tattnal
Ansell is a special talent that knows where to be on the court. She also has the ability to rebound with the best of them which lead to some easy baskets around the rim. Has the ability to play any position on the floor and if you take away her post up, showed her ability to hit the mid range shot. High IQ post player.
McKenzie Williams I 5’6 I SG I 2022 I Tattnal
Williams is a strong guard that knows how to use her body to absorb the contact. Once she is fouled has the ability to hit her free throws. Has a nice stroke from deep. Going 3/4 from behind the arc. When her teammates needed a basket Williams came through in the clutch.
Ta’Kerrah Moody I 5’5 I PG I 2024 I Ware County
Moody is a special young talent. Showed her ability to handle the pressure with her excellent ball handling skills. Always keeping her head up which allows her to see the floor well. Has the ability to get to the basket at will. Plays great pressure defense which allowed for turnovers that lead to baskets on the offensive end.
Charlese Mcclendon I 6’1 I C I 2023 I Ware County
Mcclendon dominated on the block. Has the ability to post strong around the basket and finish through contact. Can step out on the perimeter and slash to the basket. A player that can play all 5 positions and her team uses her to help with the ballhandling under pressure. Had a 20 point and 10 plus rebound night. This player gets better every game.
