The Good Counsel Super Scrimmage showcased a plethora of swing players that had a good balance of perimeter and interior skill along with size. Here or some players that shined at the wing position.
Sahnya Jah Sahnya Jah 6'1" | SF Bishop McNamara | 2023 #50 Nation FL – 6’1″ – Bishop McNamara – 2024
Sahnya has that combo wing vibe as she has interior and perimeter skills. Seeing her make the transition from post to wing has been flawless as her skill in the paint hasn’t diminished. She will need to do a little of both this season as the Mustangs are thin in the middle. She will create matchup problems at any position on the court.
Jaeda Wilson – 5’9″ – Holy Child – 2024
Jaeda had a solid showcase. She was able to demonstrate her skill set but, she was required to do so much for her team that she couldn’t focus on any one thing. She had to score, rebound, bring the ball up, defend the best player while facing some double teams with a winding shot clock. She should get into her grove once everyone starts to learn their roles on the team.
Kaliyah Murphy – 6’0″ – Elizabeth Seton – 2025
Kaliyah has a nice college like body and finishes at the basket, typically that’s more than enough for a freshman, however, she has a complete game. The foundation is in place for a great high school career and more. As her ball handling improves she has the tools in place to become the marquee player in the WCAC by her junior season.
Fadima Tall Fadima Tall 6'0" | PF Georgetown Visitation | 2022 State MD – 6’2″ – Georgetown Visitation – 2023
Fadima started out in the post going up against Riverdale Baptist and she was okay, when she went to the perimeter she started to flourish. She blew right by other post player after drawing them out from the basket and forced their hand to come out by showing she could knock down the three. Putting a smaller quicker defender on her proved to be useless as she was just too strong inside for them.
Anaiah Jenkins Anaiah Jenkins 6'0" | PF McDonogh | 2023 State MD – 5’11″ – McDonogh – 2023
Speaking of strength, Anaiah was probably the strongest natural wings in the building. She was very physical attacking the basket using her body to bully defenders. In a way her matchups seemed unfair, she seemed to thrive off of contact and was able to draw fouls as defenders bounced off of her.
Laila Reynolds Laila Reynolds 5'11" | CG Shabach Christian Academy | 2023 State MD – 5’11″ – New Hope Academy – 2023
Laila was very active to the point she was always open on the floor. She has a lot of energy and a good shot that’s pretty consistent. With Brown and Fauntleroy commanding so much attention Laila can have a field day all season as she did on Saturday. She has the frame and body already that is built for the college game.
Paris Locke Paris Locke 5'11" | SF McDonogh | 2023 State MD – 5’11″ – McDonogh – 2023
Paris simply out hustled players sprinting up and down the floor in transition for easy finishes. Her effort and ability to adjust to off target passes and still finish allowed her to get some great looks at the rim. Her hustle on the court on both ends is what young players should look to model in their game.
Randi Griffin Randi Griffin 6'0" | PF Riverdale Baptist School | 2023 State MD – 6’1″ – Riverdale Baptist- 2023
Randi looked really good on her drives. She is a good finisher with a great body. Once she adds a consistent perimeter shot she will have the complete package to carry her at the next level. For now she is effective with what she does well, getting to the rim.
Drew Jordan – 5’11″ – Riverdale Baptist – 2023
Drew was relatively quiet in her first game but exploded in her next two. She was great at attacking the basket and finding lanes in the zone. She has a good enough shot to keep the defenses on their toes. If she decides to bring her best every game she has the potential to be a top five player in the class.
