PD Super Scrimmage: Versatile Wings

Providence Day hosted a super scrimmage to kick off the high school season, and it was certainly full of talent from across the state. Here are some of the more versatile wings I saw over the weekend. [player_tooltip player_id="260511" first="Reece" last="Johnston"] | South Meck | 2022 Johnston moves all over the court including getting inside to grab a rebound. She is sneaky when it comes to making backdoor cuts leaving her opponent spinning trying to figure out where she went. She knocked down some shots from behind the three point line scoring from all over the court. She did a great job on fast breaks knowing when to take the ball to the hoop herself or pass it off to a teammate. [player_tooltip player_id="116898" first="Senali" last="Moss"] | South Meck | 2022 Moss is a tough defender keeping her opponent in front of her and jumping into passing lanes. She’s smart with her steals, especially when she slows up to wait for numbers or speeds up to push the fast break. She finds her way to the basket with passes or dribbling it all the way on her own. She extends possessions for her team following shots and grabbing rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id="202002" first="Evangelia" last="Paulk"] | Asheville Christian Academy | 2023 Paulk uses her height to be dominant on the court. She can handle the ball driving it all the way to the hoop, or she can step back for a nice jumper. She’s a tough defender making it difficult for people to get by her using her height and her IQ to anticipate what the defense is going to do. [player_tooltip player_id="261175" first="Laniya" last="Scales"] | Quality Education Academy | 2024 Scales uses her height to get involved all over the court. She follows shots going after rebounds, and she puts back up offensive boards for her points. She has a nice shot from deep. She does a great job seeing the floor making nice passes to her teammates flashing down the lane. She scores well even with her back to the basket. [player_tooltip player_id="253286" first="Reese" last="Wilson"] | Myers Park | 2024 Wilson easily pushed the ball up the court herself using fakes to throw off opponents on her way to an old fashioned three point play. She hit some clutch three point shots late in a close game for her team showing off her versatility all over the court. She has a nice flow with the game knowing exactly where to move to contribute for her team.
