Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey has been gearing up for the start of the season the entire summer and into the fall, releasing prospect lists and profiling some of the best players and teams in the state.
This article continues our prospect list profile series as we dive further into the 2024 class to discuss the No. 41-43 sophomores in the state for this season as ranked by the PGH NJ team.
No. 41: Allie Serlenga Allie Serlenga SF Bishop Eustace | 2024 NJ – SF, Bishop Eustace
Serlenga emerged out of nowhere for the Crusaders, following in the footsteps of her sister and teammate, Carly. Bishop Eustace was one of the surprise teams in the state in the spring, and Serlenga quickly proved her worth on the floor as a freshman.
She finished the season second on the team in assists, fourth in steals and fifth in scoring and rebounding, averaging 4.1 PPG for the Crusaders. The numbers don’t pop off the page, but Serlenga showed consistent growth as the spring wore on.
The sophomore forward showed that she can shoot the three-ball well, so she’s able to be utilized in a number of different ways this season. Serlenga has already adapted well on the floor and should continue that this winter.
No. 42: Zeynep Ozel Zeynep Ozel 5'8" | SG Blair | 2024 State NJ – 5-8 PG/SG, Blair Academy
Ozel unfortunately saw the floor for just one game last season as Blair was one of a number of teams across the state to not play in the spring.
However, that didn’t stop this combo guard sensation as while the spring was a wash, she turned up the dial a notch in the summer with Team Sharp and showed why she’s going to put New Jersey on watch.
Ozel is a gifted scorer and an aggressive player who knows how to find a way to the basket and make things happen. She’s undoubtedly a fantastic playmaker and this full high school season will really help round her overall game out more.
No. 43: Bliss Vimbor Bliss Vimbor 5'10" | SG Morris Catholic | 2024 NJ – 5-10 PG/SG, Saddle River Day
Vimbor played in 10 games as a freshman for Saddle River Day, averaging 3.9 PPG and knocking down 0.8 three-pointers a game in the spring.
Her 5-10 frame gives her an advantage from the guard role and allows her to get great looks at the basket from distance. She’s able to use her height advantage to create more shot opportunities, especially from beyond the arc.
Over 60 percent of her scoring last season came from three, making her a dangerous shooter coming into the winter. Vimbor already has a feel for the game and experience coming in, so expect to see much more productivity out of her as a sophomore.
