These 2 teams squared off last season for a preseason scrimmage in which the Lady Terrors took home the victory. Both teams bought some strong senior leadership and some talent on both ends of the floor. The Lady Terrors prevailed with the 65-50 victory over the Maidens. Here is a look at some players that stood out on the night.
Makaylah Garard I 5’3 I SG I Charlton County I 2023
Garard showed her prowess with her ability to hit the 3 ball from deep. She only needed a little space to get her shot off and worked through a faceguard defense all night. When she was pushed off the line she had the ability to still get her shots around the rim. A special talent that will bring havoc to the region and state. Garard finished with 18 points on the night.
Alindria Dudley I 5’5 I PG I Glynn Academy I 2023
Dudley drew the assignment of face guarding Charlton County’s guards all night. She used her speed to get out in the passing lane and made it tough for anyone to score on her. Dudley had a breakout summer and has shown why she will create some defensive havoc in the region. Has the ability to score at will around the rim.
Jordan Vernon I 5’5 I Wing I Charlton County I 2022
Vernon had a breakout game last night. She was all over the court diving for loose balls and getting on the boards hard. Vernon ended with a double-double with 15 points and 10 plus rebounds. A kid that provides the spark and energy for her team. Vernon attacks the basket hard in transition and knows how to use her body to absorb the contact. She was 9-12 from the free throw on the night.
Akirria Mountain I 5’5 I SG I Glynn Academy I 2022
Mountain showed why at the break last season she was the leading scorer for the Terrors. Due to a season-ending injury last year, Mountain’s season was cut short. She didn’t miss a beat in getting things started back up with her 19 points in her debut. Showed her ability to score inside/out. Was the leading rebounder on the offensive and defensive end.
Shadiamond Greene I 5’6 I SG I Charlton County 2022
Greene is part of the awesome guard lineup for Charlton County. A senior that can score at will. Showed her ability to shoot it from deep and attack strong in transition. Her ball-handling skills allowed her to escape the Glynn Academy pressure and score at the rim. A game-changer that hit some big shots down the stretch. Look for her to have a breakout senior season.
Paris Smith I 5’11 I SF I Glynn Academy 2022
Paris Smith was one of the biggest players on the floor last night. She used her height at times to post up the smaller defenders for easy baskets. Also showed her ability to attack the rim from the wing and the top of the key. She was in foul trouble early on in the game but ended with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Kayla Page I 5’7 I Combo I Glynn Academy I 2022
Make sure you remember Kayla Page. She is a player that is going to be on a lot of scouting reports this season. A transfer from California, that did not have the opportunity to play last season due to Covid, showed why she was one of the best players on the court. From stepback 3s to no-look passes, Page showed her skill set. Coach Sharnesha Smith of the Lady Terrors mentioned that she needs to be more selfish on the offensive end as she is able to score at will. Page should be in the running for some all-region and state awards at the end of the season.
