Team Preview: Miami SLAM!

Throughout this month, I will be highlighting selected teams across South Florida. Today, my focus is on Miami SLAM!. The Titans went 11-10 last season under head coach <strong>Krystal Cabrera</strong>. SLAM! played a fairly tough schedule which included defeats against <strong>Miami Palmer Trinity</strong>, <strong>Miami Country</strong> <strong>Day</strong>, and <strong>Miami Christian</strong>. Might those games help them this season and in the future? Time will tell, but plenty of teaching moments come out when playing against the very best. Key players/roster: 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="331721" first="Jim’Miyah" last="Branton"] 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="331712" first="Adaya" last="Montalvo"] 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="331736" first="Karla" last="Quintero"] 2023 Jamesia Pure 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="221684" first="Amanda" last="Fogler"] 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="331761" first="Samantha" last="Bautista"] (via California) 2025 Maykayla Berrios 2026 Aubrey Montalvo 2026 Malaysia David Transfers Daijia Lopez and Makayla Brown (<strong>Miami Central</strong>) Transfer [player_tooltip player_id="331755" first="De’Ziah" last="Rucker"] (<strong>Mater Academy</strong>) SLAM! has a solid young team led by its freshman core. Branton is a 5-foot-7 guard that averaged a team-best 12.5 points per game. Bautista is a Golden State transfer that is crafty with a great shot. Berrios is a pesky defender that puts pressure on the ball. You also have two eight graders in Aubrey Montalvo and David. The Titans have players they can develop throughout the course of this season. The good thing is many of them have received playing time. That experience might come in handy in games this season. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="331736" first="Karla" last="Quintero"] is a player with some height at 6-foot-1. She averaged 7.6 points per game. Quintero will be a factor around the paint on both sides of the floor. Her added value could be as a senior leader on an otherwise young team. The Titans are a group that could make some noise this season. The 2025 and 2026 class will key to determining its final mark. I would venture they have one of the younger rosters around Miami-Dade County.
