We have way more average and good players spread around on our high school teams in Virginia so let’s try to get them the maximum exposure year-round because they are going to need it outside AAU. If we don’t players and parents will seek more exposure on high-level high school programs to get seen more. Nevertheless, here are some of the top high school teams and players in Virginia in no particular order.
Princess Anne High School Virginia Beach
Princess Anne will be here until they get knocked off! They have taken a hit with players leaving to go to other programs most noticeably [player_tooltip player_id="149853" first="Zakiya" last="Stephenson"], [player_tooltip player_id="254967" first="Cyriah" last="Griffin"] and [player_tooltip player_id="188329" first="Micayah" last="Holland"] who is at Montverde projected to be a power five-track athlete and playing basketball. Now [player_tooltip player_id="299992" first="Chloe" last="Beddingfield"] will have to adjust her game from roll player to the star on that team!
Paul VI High School Chantilly
Never the void of talent and great coaching this program has consistently produced high-level players to the next level. With [player_tooltip player_id="143229" first="Jaelyn" last="Talley"] and [player_tooltip player_id="150114" first="Alyssa" last="Costigan"], I’m sure they will try and put together another run to Geico!
TPLS Christian Academy Richmond
TPLS has produced 15 division one players in 8 years! This year a total of four signed players before the season started. Lead by four signees [player_tooltip player_id="150110" first="Grace" last="Pack"], [player_tooltip player_id="255913" first="Sierra" last="Johnson"], [player_tooltip player_id="255912" first="Karlee" last="Lemon"] and Louella Allana the Lion’s plays a highly competitive schedule and is the premier prep program in Virginia.
Norview High School Chesapeake
If it’s ever a time to dethrone Princess Anne it is now! Norview has the opportunity to be the premier program in the 757. Led by Hampton commit [player_tooltip player_id="211108" first="LeAsia" last="Foreman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="254948" first="Diamond" last="Wiggins"] this one-two punch will make some noise.
St.Anne Belfield Charlottesville
With the best player in the State regardless of any class, [player_tooltip player_id="149858" first="Kymora" last="Johnson"] will have to put this team on her back throughout the season. I saw her carry a great AAU program this summer so I know she is capable. Other than She Game Game DC not a lot of competition on the schedule. I wish they played a couple of more showcases so “Mo” can show she’s one of the best players in the 2023 class!
S3 Academy Petersburg
Take about mobility this Academy program started last year and they already have three Division one prospects including [player_tooltip player_id="302015" first="Dream" last="Muhammad"] and Navy Commit [player_tooltip player_id="149861" first="Kyah" last="Smith"]. They play an independent schedule versus great competition this is the new wave of high school basketball.
The Miller School Charlottesville
Maybe a surprise to some to be on the list but this school has the necessary resources to become a sleeping giant. With Radford Commit [player_tooltip player_id="263486" first="Olivia" last="Wagner"] they also adding two high-level players [player_tooltip player_id="302791" first="Alary" last="Bell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="254959" first="Brooklin" last="Ingram"] from North Carolina. They both are only juniors so they can continue to add to the team for the future.
Bishop Ireton Alexandria
This program has a lot of high-grade talent including the current number one ranked player in PHG Virginia [player_tooltip player_id="143239" first="Kennedy" last="Clifton"] committed to Rice University. Ireton is competing and She Got Game DC with a pretty good competitive schedule. Now let’s see if the collection of talent can be a great team this winter.
Bishop O’Connell Arlington
A really good up-and-coming program that has quietly put together one of the best teams in Virginia. [player_tooltip player_id="296737" first="Keira" last="Scott"] is a player that all coaches should know with elite size at the wing. Also with [player_tooltip player_id="164692" first="Nia" last="Grymes"] and [player_tooltip player_id="143240" first="Aaliyah" last="Carlock"], this team is stacked legit!
Monacan High School Richmond
Surprisingly not participate and She Got Game, a schedule is not as tough as the other teams on the list but Monacan will be led by Army commit [player_tooltip player_id="211107" first="Linden" last="Madison"] who is coming off an ACL tear last year might not be full strength until January. [player_tooltip player_id="304901" first="Caitlyn" last="Rodriguez"] and freshman [player_tooltip player_id="255926" first="Trinity" last="Jones"] will have to shoulder the load until the team is full strength.
Patrick Henry Roanoke
For sure this is the best team no one knows about! traditionally players from Roanoke travel to Richmond and the Hampton area for AAU even for some high school but now players are staying put and they are building from the ground up. Starting with players like Niagara commit [player_tooltip player_id="304815" first="Shelby" last="Fiddler"] and [player_tooltip player_id="300384" first="Jada" last="Cook"] don’t forget about the west when it comes to high school girls basketball.
