Morningside Players Who Impressed:
2023, PG, Gina Prewitt – Good size guard that can run and finish at the rim, she is a good on ball defensive player and she showed it by locking down her opponent. Love her will to defend and play hard on each and every possession her team secured. This kid was fun to watch.
2023, 5’11, C, Yamilet Martinez – Agile big on the floor that has all of the fundamentals that a coach is looking for as a player, she can seal down low and score, she can catch and shoot the midrange. She has great size for a post in high school and can also run the floor and catch and finish. Nice lefty touch in the paint for a big inside.
St. Pius Players Who Impressed:
2022, 5’0, CG, Lauryn Fernandez – Lefty guard with a nice stroke on her shot, she made a driving floater of the dribble to bring the end of the quarter to a close. She is capable of handling the ball at the point guard spot and she can also lend some time at her natural spot of being a shooting guard.
2022, 5’2, CG, Sadye Martinez – is the scoring guard of this group, she has been on the Varsity team since she was a freshman and she gave the team some good scoring then as well. She can handle the ball, she can score of the dribble and she is good at the midrange game scoring. She can defend and lock her opponent down with some pressure and make them turn it over for a score at her end of the floor.
2023, PG, Ariana Bayardo – small guard that has a lot of attitude on the floor, she gives the team what she needs in intensity and defense. She scored a few times, but her main purpose on the floor when we watched was for her to setup the team for easy score and manage the game for her coach. She did that in our opinion, she was solid thru and thru.
