Madison Olguin-5’6 G (Antonian)
Olguin caught my eye during the club season with her ability to create her shot and drop the jumper, both under pressure and that places her in a category filled with other players that do the same thing however this is where the intangibles separate players, her defense “on the ball” was very good yet so was it inside the paint as she showed her versatility by battling players around or above “the magic number” which is 6’0, for rebounds
Lillie Skiles-5’6 G (Stephenville)
Skiles is heady and plays within herself yet she understands how to get hers “in the flow” and by doing that, it opens up opportunities for her teammates because she has good court vision as well. I also liked her ability to create her shot, she showed she could knock it down from the outside, this includes the long ball, and also her defense was good as well, this includes on the ball and she even played the passing lane
AJ Jones (Marion)
Jones is long and athletic, that’s the base I use in profiles so the intangibles, there’s that word again, add to that base. She’s strong and powerful, that showed o her rebounding which she battles for everything off the rim, that gets a #THROWBACK hashtag and her powerful finishes, sometimes with players literally hanging on her, was also nice but she defends strong and when you factor in something else, her UPS, which coupled with good timing allows her to block shots
Avery Brooks (Mason)
Brooks was smooth with the ball and her deceptive first step allowed her to take the defender off the dribble multiple times yet she also has the slight HEZ to get them off balance. She handled the ball in the open court and saw the floor and her on-the-money passes set teammates up for scoring opportunities. Her defense was solid, she even played the passing lane several times and came away with steals
Evangeline Hernandez (Somerset)
Hernandez had a nice bag of tricks to do basically whatever she wanted so let me start with her handling of the ball under pressure because she reads the defense and understands how to avoid being trapped yet she also understands how to set her teammates up. She was vocal on the floor, she also did a good job attacking the basket from multiple angles as well as finishing with either hand, much of this was because of her first step and she showed she could drop the long ball
