Here is a list of top underclassmen I saw during the games I viewed on Sunday at the Journey to the Tourney
<strong><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">Dabbs Key Underclassmen</span></strong>
<span style="font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Janaya Lenoir, 5-6 2025, Huber Heights Wayne</span></strong></span>
Was impressed with how poised she was for a freshman and was able to defend and handle the ball at a high level. She is a good on-ball defender who can turn her opponent with good pressure. Can create opportunities from both sides of the ball. Janaya is capable to being very productive from the perimeter and is a big game shooter. A good future ahead for the rising guard.
<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="319059" first="Imani" last="Frazier"], 5-11 2025, Huber Heights Wayne</strong></span>
Saw her last week in a regular season game and was super impressed in her overall game. Is a player with a huge upside as she showed again on Sunday, she is a physical player who can play all over the floor. Imani is long and athletic with the ability to truly control the paint, can defend by altering shots and will create havoc with her body control. Showed good range out behind the arc. Unlimited ceiling. <em>(feature photo above)</em>
<span style="font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif;"><strong style="font-size: 1rem;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[pla</span></strong><strong style="font-size: 1rem;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">yer_tooltip player_id="216012" first="Morgyn" last="Rose"], 5-7 2024, Huber Heights Wayne</span></strong></span>
Why not make it a trifecta of future Wayne greatness. She had a very good freshman season and has come back more mature and ready to contribute. Showed good range, not afraid to let if fly from behind the arc. She possesses good handles and has the ability to create shots for not only herself but her teammates. She has a quick shot and is a strong rebounder for her size.
<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif;"><strong>Jordan Day, 6-2 2024, Cincinnati Roger Bacon</strong></span>
She came off the bench and showed some good promise to become a very productive post player for the Spartans. She has good moves around the basket, and despite being young, she is skilled and getting better every day. As she get older, she has the potential to become very good by wokring hard on her game and her weaknesses.
<span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: arial black, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="319294" first="Mari" last="Gerton"], 5-7 2025, </b></span><span style="font-size: 18.6667px;"><b>Cincinnati</b></span><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><b> Summit Country Day</b></span></span></span>
The sky is the limit for this freshman, I really like her game. For a freshman with only a few weeks of high school experience, Mari is poised and able to push the ball well in transition, showing the skills to finish. She also has good range from the outside and is not afraid to let it fly. Mari has good handles and is a good pass with solid court vision.
<span style="font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Lila Svendsen, 5-8 2025, Cincinnati Summit Country Day</span></strong></span>
One thing that stuck out to me was her ability to make solid decisions on the court for a young player. Lila showed good basketball IQ and continued to be a good leader for her team. She knows where to be on the court and has a good future possibility ahead of her as she continues to grow her game.
