Miami Area Players to Watch

Let’s look at some prospects I’ve yet to mention around the 305.

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="349372" first="Fenishka" last="Bertho"] is a prospect you will <strong>not</strong> miss. A quick twitter search lists her nickname as "Big Baby". Why? Well, Bertho is <em>listed</em> at 6-foot-4 for the Pioneers. Per latest information, she is averaging a double-double (19 ppg/14 rpg) for 9-0 North Miami. Bertho is highly effective with her back to the basket and will block a ton of shots on defense. She should only improve with more quickness and athleticism.
<strong>Alexia Sanchez</strong> - Doral Academy
2023 Alexia Sanchez is averaging 9.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.6 steals and three assists while shooting 47 percent on her two-point field goals. In a win over <strong>Gulliver Prep</strong> (6-2), she had 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Doral Academy is 6-3 with losses to <strong>Blanche Ely,</strong> <strong>Somerset Academy Silver Palms</strong> and <strong>Mater Lakes Academy</strong>. Not a bad beginning for Sanchez and the Firebirds.
<strong>Isabella Porto</strong> - Palmer Trinity
The Falcons have gotten production from Isabella Porto on the glass. The 5-foot-11 forward is third on the team with six boards per game. Of her 48 total, 19 have come on the offensive end. Against Somerset Academy Silver Palms, Porto collected 11 boards (six offensive). Porto has done her job with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91640" first="Emily" last="Montes"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="217669" first="Jade" last="Leon"]</strong> doing the scoring.
<strong>Shanaii Gamble</strong> - Somerset Academy Silver Palms
2024 Shanaii Gamble is averaging 7.8 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Lady Stallions. The 6-foot forward has five double-figure games on the glass. Against <strong>SLAM</strong>!, Gamble had 21 rebounds (10 offensive). She also has a pair of 13 rebound efforts. Overall, she is shooting 36 percent from the floor. A bit of a boost in that area should round out her game.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="219950" first="Jada" last="Beneby"] is averaging 14.7 points and 4.2 steals per game while shooting 46 percent on her two-point attempts. Against Gulliver Prep, she scored a current season-high of 23 points and knocked down three 3-pointers while dishing out five assists and recording five steals. The Cougars are 3-3 with all three losses coming by a combined 13 points.
