Earlier this week, Prep Girls Hoops released their Ohio 2022 rankings update with several players moving and making their debut in the winter update. Over the next few days, we will be taking a look at some of the players who rose in the latest update.
[player_tooltip player_id="32617" first="Kyla" last="Oldacre"], 6-5 2022, Mason
The Miami (FL) signee looks to lead Mason on a deep tournament run this season. Kyla (pictured left) is a strong and physical player who can use her body well in the paint with good footwork and excellent rebounding skills. She has a good basketball IQ and can play through contact. Had a good career in travel ball and finished a strong summer with All Ohio Express. She averaged over 20 points per game and was named MVP of the NIKE Nationals. Kyla moves up to #5 in the latest ranking.
[player_tooltip player_id="92521" first="Mackenzie" last="Hurd"], 5-7 2022, Nelsonville York
An exciting player who will be taking her game to Youngstown State but not before she looks to close out her high school career on a good note. She has excellent handles and runs the floor well. Can penetrate and finish and can push the tempo in transition. She has excellent floor vision, can distribute and create shots for herself or her team. Solid defender, can make things happen. Mack (feature photo above) moves into the #11 spot in the 2022 class.
[player_tooltip player_id="159371" first="Bri" last="Claxon"], 5-7 2022, South Webster
Very talented two-time all-Ohio guard who will be playing her college basketball at Gannon next season. The Team Ohio AAU alum is one of the most underappreciated players in the state, but she is a complete player. A big scoring threat, Bri is polished in all aspects of the game. Able to play multiple positions on the court, she her great perimeter range from behind the arc. Active hands-on defense and loves to play at a high speed.
[player_tooltip player_id="159366" first="Cameron" last="Zinn"], 5-11 2022, Vinton County
The Wheeling College volleyball signee is pretty talented on the hardwood also. She was a huge part of the state finalist run last spring and looks to continue her excellence on the court. Zinn (pictured right) is a solid post with good moves in the paint, she is able to slash and finish, or finish on the break. Has range, good handles and can rebound and push the ball in transition. Fundamentally sound player. Lands at #30 in the latest rankings.
Abigeal McNally, 6-0 2022, Cincinnati Colerain
She caught my attention at the Journey to the Tourney and makes the highest debut in the Top 60 during these updates. She is a very strong rebounder and does a great job inside or out. Can establish herself and finish around the rim. Can play in transition, moves well without the ball and is able to be a threat anywhere on the floor. Good handles, super athletic. Debuts at #34 after being listed on the Watch List back in August. Heading to NAIA power Marian next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="212896" first="Carly" last="Maple"], 5-9 2022, Sylvania Northview
The Tiffin signee has played well everytime I have seen her, and she is one of the hardest workers on the court. Able to play either guard spot, good handles and a solid consistent perimeter threat. Very court savvy and solid on the defensive side of the ball, active and anticipates the game well. Quick shot release. Carly (pictured left) moves up to #56 in the latest ranking update.
[player_tooltip player_id="314163" first="Maci" last="Rhoades"], 5-11 2022, Beavercreek
Maci makes her debut in the Top 60 of the latest PGH ranking after previously being on the Watch List. She has earned her spot with a complete game, is an excellent floor general and a solid leader. Has led a young Beavercreek team to a fast 3-1 start this young season. She can finish well in transition with either hand, and her long frame causes the opponents to alter their game. Signed with Radford. Currently sits at #59 in Ohio on the latest list.
