So far, the PGH NJ team has gotten through the 2022 and 2023 classes in their entireties and in this article, the 2024 class will be officially wrapped up.
This is a class we’ll be keeping a close eye on as many players on the list and many more we didn’t name are going to have breakout seasons and will be appearing on the lists of many throughout the state and the country.
Though we’ve listed nearly 50 sophomores to date, expect there to be many more that are included in the future.
For now, let’s finish up the PGH NJ 2024 prospect list with a look at the No. 44-46 sophomores coming into this season.
No. 44: Madison Miller Madison Miller 6'3" | C Morris Catholic | 2024 State NJ – 6-3 C, Pope John
Miller played in just eight of Pope John’s 13 games as a freshman and was a bench presence on a team that was heavily reliant on its starting five.
Despite the lack of playing time as a freshman, the saying in basketball is, ’you can’t teach size’ and that’s the case for Miller. Standing at 6-3, this forward is primed for future success and we saw much more of that during her summer AAU season.
She’s shown herself to be a bulk scorer and a dominant scorer. She commands the paint well and has a soft touch for a big. Not only that, but Miller is agile and nimble on her feet for a 6-3 center, all of which will translate well onto the floor.
No. 45: Maya Giordano Maya Giordano C Old Tappan | 2024 State NJ – C, Old Tappan
Giordano had limited playing time as a freshman, averaging just under 3.0 PPG in five games with the Golden Knights.
She quite immediately showed that she can be the forward of the future for this team and her instant impact in those five games was noticeable. This is a player who can quickly seal the interior as a quick-footed defender.
Also, Giordano is aggressive with the ball on offense and when she has it down low, she’s finding a way to the foul line, to the basket, or both. More playing time will allow her to blossom into a big-time forward this season.
No. 46: Abigail McManus Abigail McManus SF Park Ridge | 2024 NJ – SF, Park Ridge
McManus was the most productive and impactful freshman in a sizable freshman class for Park Ridge in the spring, playing quite often in what was a primary six-player rotation.
Having that first-year experience creates a lot of confidence that we already saw in flashes last season. She has a starting role carved out for herself this winter and with that will come more success on the floor.
She can shoot well, rebound with ease and plays tough defensively. What we saw of McManus last season is just a slice of what she can do and a full season this year will show the level of dominance she can reach. Her ceiling is high.
