The December holidays are a great time for family, friends, and of course gift-giving. For Prep Girls Hoops Indiana, it’s one of our scheduled quarterly releases for player rankings, plus it’s a time when we expand our lists and add new prospects. As we approach late-December, I wanted to give you a glimpse into five young ladies who are sure to be a part of that expansion. Now, these aren’t the only players who will be added, but they are five who have stood out so far this Fall and/or high school season and deserve to be mentioned.
Sophie Bakker, 2025, 5-10 SF, Covenant Christian H.S. (DeMotte)
– Sophie is a long and wiry prospect with some speed, quickness, and all-around fluid athleticism. She plays a point forward role for her team at times, and along with twin Claire Bakker, has given quite the boost to the Knights’ lineup. This season she is averaging 9.9 points and 8.1 rebounds, she posted a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds against Calumet Christian, and she recently scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds against a good Kouts team.
Hannah Bledsoe, 2025, 6-0 PF/C, Barr-Reeve H.S.
– Hannah has stepped into a vital role for the Vikings from Day-1, and she has responded nicely. She is averaging 8.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, which includes an impressive double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds against Evansville Christian. She has good height, length, and wiry strength. She’ll run the floor well, she plays with a good motor, and she can box out to rebound or pursue rebounds outside of her area. She also might grow another inch or two.
Matea Bradfield, 2025, 5-5 PG, Evansville F.J. Reitz H.S.
– Matea is a small but explosive, quick, and fast playmaker. She could possibly end up being the most talented 2025 in the city of Evansville, but she is a big-time soccer player (22 goals in 16 games as a Freshman), so the likelihood of you ever seeing her on the hardwood in the Spring or Summer is minimal. However, on the basketball court she has helped Reitz to a 6-3 start: their best start since the 2002-2003 season. Keep her name in mind, because she can go.

, 2025, 5-6 CG, Manchester H.S.
– Brookelynn attended our “We Got Next” showcase this Fall, and she showed a lot of upside/potential there. She is long, wiry, fluid, and quick. She has a solid handle and can create off the dribble, plus she’s capable of knocking down perimeter jumpers consistently. She has begun the season with averages of 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, plus she recently scored 16 points against Mississinewa and another 11 points against Oak Hill.

, 2025, 5-7 SG, Franklin Central H.S.
– Emma is an extremely long, wiry, and fast North/South prospect. She plays with a ton of energy and is always flying around the floor. Right now, she’s probably best as an attacking driver, but I think she’ll become a multilevel scoring threat over time. I also think she adds a lot of value at the defensive end of the floor. She is averaging 7.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game at the Class 4A level, plus she had a 23-point game against Whiteland and a 12-point game against New Palestine.
