Prep Girls Hoops Michigan recently updated their class of 2022 rankings. One thing was very evident, Michigan is LOADED with girls basketball talent! One thing I noticed was the depth of guards that can score at a high level. That being said, we are going to look at guards that get buckets that are ranked after 100.
[player_tooltip player_id="227317" first="Maddie" last="Schuur"] (SG, Zeeland East)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #106
Schuur showed her scoring acumen throughout grassroots season and that’s sure to continue as this season plays out. She has shown the ability to be counted on as a go-to scorer and has the confidence in her jumper that goes with that.
[player_tooltip player_id="277660" first="Caitlyn" last="Walter"] (PG, Ovid-Elsie)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #107
Walter is off to a really nice start this season. It’s become very obvious that she’s going to score a lot for Ovid-Elsie. Walter has a nice stroke from outside and can bury a mid range jumper with consistency.
[player_tooltip player_id="178865" first="Sophie" last="Canen"] (SG, Saline)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #108
Canen is going to be a big part of the success that Saline sees this season. Her role offensively should increase a good amount this year and she has the skills and talent to take on that role.
[player_tooltip player_id="227588" first="Kylie" last="Summer"] (CG, Lenawee Christian)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #123
Summer has a really impressive offensive game and she showed that off at the Flight Hankamp Scrimmages. Summer is a high percentage shooter and does a great job recognizing good shots.
Taylor Petroskey (SG, Charlevoix)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #133
Petroskey has really expanded her offensive game over the years. She’s a multi level scorer that can fill it up from outside as well as drive to the rim. I wouldn’t be surprised if she averages 20 points a game this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="227585" first="Kaylei" last="Smith"] (CG, Onsted)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #148
Smith has to be guarded on every single possession. She’s a top notch shooter from beyond the arc and can change games with her jumper. If the defense gives Smith room, she’ll make them pay.
[player_tooltip player_id="277642" first="Alicia" last="Robinson"] (CG, Ottawa Hills)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #182
Robinson is a very disciplined offensive player that has the athleticism to make plays on that end. Robinson has well schooled offensive moves that create space for scoring opportunities.
[player_tooltip player_id="277640" first="Batoul" last="Reda"] (CG, Fordson)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #191
Reda is the type of player that’s just fun to watch. She’s a speedy athlete that can beat defenders to a spot on the floor. Reda can also beat defenders down the floor for high percentage looks.
