She came into the tournament having launched 50 threes in six games and her aggressive shooting continued in the Holiday Classic. The smooth shooting senior guard had four or five three pointers against Ponte Vedra and showed she can shoot off the dribble or off the catch. The smooth shooting guard showed she could shoot off the dribble or off the catch. Robinson also showcased a nice midrange shot and had some nice pull up shots on the baseline. Robinson came into the tournament averaging 12.2 points per game. It was really impressive seeing her move without the ball and being prepared to shoot once she received the pass. The senior guard also could take the ball to the basket. She had a nice reverse layup against Ponte Vedra. Robinson was really impressive at the Blue Devil Holiday Classic.
Mckenzi Lyons 2022, 6.0′ G/F (Rickards). On day two of the Blue Devil Holiday Classic tournament. McKenzi was a force on the court, and her physicality overmatched anything Ponte Vedra could throw at her. At times, Mckenzi looked like a woman playing against girls on the basketball court. She has a solid frame and moves very well for her size. McKenzi shot the three-pointer well, especially from the top of the key. Lyons had several three pointers by halftime. She was also effective in scoring in the paint on dribble drives and post-up moves. On drives to the goal, McKenzi looked as if she dared anyone to stand in front of her and take a charge. On post moves, her strength and size allowed her to post up defenders with little or no resistance. Defensively, McKenzi was equally as imposing. She played very physical on defense and had very quick hands. Even when she was beaten by the offensive player, her quick hands allowed to her to recover by deflecting a pass or stealing the ball from behind the offensive player.
Dezaray Bright 2023, 5’8″ C (Keystone Heights) brought the thunder on day two of the Blue Devil Holiday Classic tournament. I was really impressed by Bright’s rebounding ability and her ability to run the floor as a big. She also did a great job of handling the ball in the open court and then passing to the guards for open shots. Bright was also very physical on the floor and able to go toe for toe with the Blocton sisters of Ridgeview (Bright’s AAU teammates). Through 10 games, Bright is averaging 10.3 points per game and over 13 rebounds per game. Bright is aggressive in the paint and does have the ability to stretch the defense with her ability to shoot three-point shots.
Taliah Scott Taliah Scott 5'8" | SG St. John's Country Day | 2023 State #31 Nation FL 2023, 5’9″ PG/SG (St. Johns Country Day). Scott scored 33 points against a talented and aggressive Rickards team, followed by another 17 points against Bishop Snyder. The impressive statistic against Rickards is that Scott, who has 45 threes for the season, only had one three for the entire game. Scott scored 22 points inside the three-point arc, which speaks highly of her versatility. Through 11 games, Scott has averaged 32.8 points per game, nearly 6 rebounds and 5 steals per game.
