The post position can be crucial to winning or losing a basketball game. A lot of these players do the grunt work while not putting up the flashiest of shots. We know some of the high-profile names in South Florida. 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="217667" first="Kayla" last="Nelms"] comes to mind. However, plenty more deserve recognition. I’ve included Martin County in this piece. [player_tooltip player_id="352562" first="Kaylee" last="Gumina"] - Martin County 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="352562" first="Kaylee" last="Gumina"] is a versatile player that can play as a guard or forward. The 5-foot-11 prospect has averaged 13.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field. Furthermore, Gumina has seven double-doubles. Her scoring average has more than double from her sophomore season. She moves well on defense and her length has resulted in 30 steals. [player_tooltip player_id="247185" first="Heaven" last="Goodman"] - Hollywood Hills 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="247185" first="Heaven" last="Goodman"] has been fairly solid for the Lady Spartans. The 5-foot-11 forward/center is averaging 11.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per latest information. Given her length, Goodman can cause some problems around the interior. She mas multiple games with four or more blocks. Opponents at least have to be aware of her when she can swat or alter that many shots [player_tooltip player_id="220008" first="Lauren" last="Lockhart"] - Boynton Beach 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="220008" first="Lauren" last="Lockhart"] can do a bit of everything on both ends of the floor. The 5-foot-11 wing is averaging 14.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Lockhart can execute at multiple spots for the Lady Tigers. Her career shooting percentage is well over 50 percent and she’s averaged more than 13 points per game since her sophomore season. This year, Lockhart has been more active as a rebounder. In fact, that mark is tripled per game this season. Against Jupiter, she had 15 points and 13 boards. Nadine Ogenovic/[player_tooltip player_id="352563" first="Brooke" last="Buckman"] - Cardinal Gibbons Both Ogenovic and Buckman give Cardinal Gibbons depth along the interior. 2022 Ogenovic (6’0) is a nice post defender that can grab a high volume of boards and block shots. The 5-foot-11 Buckman gets the most out her frame. She has developed a reliable offensive game this season and gives Cardinal Gibbons durable minutes. Buckman is only a junior so she has another year to develop.
