Lily Truchon Lily Truchon 5'11" | PG South Shore | 2023 State WI -5’11 G/F-South Shore
The South Shore lead guard is one of my favorite prospects in the state because of her unique background. Truchon is an elite talent from the north-central part of Wisconsin and attends a high school with a listed enrollment of 50. What the Cardinal does on the floor makes her even more special. This season Truchon has averaged 26.2 points 10.5 rebounds per game. Some people will likely say her numbers are due to the competition level. To that, I say this, what Truchon has done at South Shore statistically has been outstanding, and she pairs that success with great showings with Team Wisconsin, with more talent. Truchon has shown she can be a dominant player and play within a team with talent and excel in her role. I think you could put her in any situation, and she’d find a way to be successful.
Alana Zarneke Alana Zarneke 6'0" | SF Kaukauna | 2023 State WI -6’0 G/F-Kaukauna
The Galloping Ghost has put together one of the best seasons any scout could ask for from a player. Zarneke plays in the premier conference in Wisconsin, the Fox Valley Association, and has taken a massive leap from her sophomore campaign. The 6-foot wing has shown her ability to score efficiently and translate her scoring into winning. It also helps that Zarneke is a tall and athletic wing that can defend on the perimeter and in the paint. Depending on what her team needs from her. The junior is a versatile piece that has shown how good she is this season, and more schools likely will soon.
Tieryn Plasch Tieryn Plasch 5'7" | CG Northwestern | 2023 State WI -5’7 G-Northwestern
Plasch was one of the first kids I saw highlights from when I started writing at PGH Wisconsin, and I’ve been a fan of hers ever since. The Northwestern guard is a player who has just gotten better with more experience at this level. Statistically, she’s proven to be an elite scorer in the Heart O’North Conference, along with becoming one of the best shooters Wisconsin has to offer. The Tiger is currently shooting 47% from the 3-point line, and most of her looks are coming off the dribble. To be clear, Plasch creates most of her shots herself to make that 47% even more impressive.
Karissa Smith Karissa Smith 5'9" | SG Appleton North | 2023 State WI -5’8 SG-Appleton North
The Lightning guard and her team are currently in the bottom half of the Fox Valley Association, which is insane. Smith has been one of the most consistent elite-level shooters I know. Smith has shot 42% on 3’s over her career, and that’s what she’s shooting this season. When I evaluate kids and think about them playing at the next level, I look for what they do that’d help a college team today. In Smith’s case, I can confidently say programs could use her ability to shoot. There are areas for her to improve to take another step over the next year, but for now, she is a zone deterrent when she wakes up in the morning. No team should ever play a zone against Appleton North, or Smith will knock down 8 3’s as she did against Neenah.
Emma Jossie Emma Jossie 5'8" | PF Stevens Point (SPASH) | 2023 State WI -5’9 F-SPASH
The undersized Stevens Point forward has shown how well she can score the ball. Jossie is a tough forward who plays bigger than her 5-foot-9 listed height. Not only does she play like she’s 6’1, but she beats her matchups with her quickness as well. The forward is pulling down over eight rebounds and is scoring more than 17 points per night. If you see those numbers in a vacuum and see that she shoots the ball efficiently, you’d think you’d have a highly recruited forward. I think that will happen very soon for Jossie. Once you get over the initial hill of her being an undersized forward, you will love her game as much as I do.
