Maxpreps tracks the state’s statistical leaders based on what is inputted into the system by a coach or program director. With the regular season wrapping up and District and Regional playoffs starting up, we take a look at the steals per game statistical leaders in Florida.
Lilly Clark (Altamonte Christian) – Class of 2026 – Point Guard
Average Per Game: 10.7
Total Steals: 192
Games Played: 18
Clark is just an 8th grader who is putting together quite an impressive season. She leads the state with 10.7 steals per game and has had double digit steals in 12 of 18 games. On December 9th she had an impressive state line of 21 steals, 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 60-18 win over St. John Lutheran. In addition to a 20 steal game, she has twice had games with 15 steals, and two more games of 13 steals. With 192 steals on the season, the record books for steals are open to be broken with Clark having four more years of varsity basketball left!
Tamiya Stewart (Middleton) – Class of 2022 – Guard
Average Per Game: 10.3
Total Steals: 186
Games Played: 18
Stewart has been consistent all season and no ball is safe around her. She is # 2 in Florida with 10.3 steals per game and has had double digit steals in more than half of her teams’ games.
Her most impressive stretch on the season was a 4-week span between 12/17 – 1/12 where she had 14, 12, 11, 16, and 16 steals over a five game stretch.
Maya Llanes (Zephyrhills) – Class of 2022 – Wing
Average Per Game: 10.1
Total Steals: 191
Games Played: 19
Llanes is one of three players in the state averaging double digit steals. She has had double digit steals in 13 of 19 games and has had 12 double-doubles on the season and an impressive triple double vs Cypress Creek on December 18 where she had 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along with 12 steals. On the season she is averaging a double-double with 16.8 points and 10.1 steals per game helping lead Zephyrhills to a 14-5 record.
Lexy Griffin (Arnold HS) – Class of 2022 – Point Guard
Average Per Game: 9.1
Total Steals: 163
Games Played: 18
Griffin has been wreaking havoc on opposing teams’ offenses averaging 9.1 steals per game on the season. She had a season high 15 steals versus North Bay Haven Academy and has had 12 steals five times this season and 11 steals three times. She does a little bit of everything for Arnold and is just shy of averaging a triple double on the season as she averages 12.1 points, 8.7 assists, and 9.1 steals per game.
Taylor Blackshear Taylor Blackshear 5'7" | SG Benjamin School | 2023 State FL (Benjamin School) – Class of 2023 – Point Guard
Average Per Game: 7.7
Total Steals: 131
Games Played: 17
Blackshear is getting it down across the board for Benjamin School. She is # 5 in the state in steals with 7.7 per game to go along with averaging 18.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She is a pesky, athletic, active defender who has hit the double-digit mark four times in steals this season.
Sophia Chevres (Downey Christian) – Class of 2022 – Point Guard
Average Per Game: 7.5
Total Steals: 75
Games Played: 10
Chevres has played quite a few less games than most teams but is averaging 7.5 steals per game in her 10 games this season including 12 steals in back-to-back games versus Life Christian Academy and Liberty Christian Prep. The 5’5 Senior guard is aggressive both on and off the ball and uses her quickness and athleticism very well to go along with her impressive anticipation skills!
Adah Frazer (Covenant) – Class of 2024 – Point Guard
Average Per Game: 7.3
Total Steals: 87
Games Played: 12
Frazer leads Covenant in both steals and scoring on the season and is currently # 7 in Florida with 7.3 steals per game. She had a season high 11 steals versus Faith Christian Academy on January 6th and has been just short of double digit steals several times on the season with two 8 steal games and two 9 steals per game.
