On January 15th at Deland High School, the 1st Annual Ginny Sanchez Showcase took place. Eight area varsity teams came to Deland to Participate in the event. Teams for the event where: Deltona, Deland, Seminole, Winter Springs, Father Lopez, Spruce Creek, Bishop Moore and one AAU team, BlueStar Florida. Over the course of the day, there were some very competitive games. This article will highlight the younger players that play in AAU.
Leila Allen 2026 5’8” PG Timber Springs/BlueStar Florida
Allen is extremely fast and athletic Point guard that pushes the ball on the break. She is very agile that gets to the basket with a multitude of finishing moves. Allen also plays very tough, in your face defense. Look forward to watching her play in the future.
Saleigh Simpson 2027 5’10” PF Southwestern/BlueStar Florida
Simpson, a strong and nimble post for BlueStar Florida. She is very smart and reads the offensive player to get in the right position to get the shot blocked. She has nice touch around the basket as a middle school player.
Kendall Perry 2026 5’8” SF BlueStar
Perry is a very smooth player that just watching her, you would not even think she is playing. Her movement and body control are very good for a younger player. Perry, has a nice jump shot from both the mid-range and from the perimeter.
Lilly Sanchez 2027 5’3” PG Heritage Middle/BlueStar
Sanchez, a smaller guard that has tenacious defense, plays with a high energy level. She has a nice jump shot that gets out of her hands quickly. With some added training, she has tons of upside.
