Let’s start with the eye catchers from Hickory Ridge.
Get you a guard that rebounds like Erica McClary (G, 2023). She crashes the boards sneaking in behind her opponents to grab them, and she knows exactly how to put them back up for some points or kick it out to a player ready to shoot. She scores herself driving with ease, and she can certainly shoot from deep. She had a nice pull up off of a fast break showing her IQ when it comes to scoring.
Alyssa Lewis Alyssa Lewis 5'7" | SG Hickory Ridge | 2023 State NC (pictured above, G, 2023) was dominating on defense grabbing steals on her team’s press. She knew exactly how to push these up the court finding open teammates or finishing at the rim herself. She continues to show off her three point shooting from behind the arc. She even finished the third quarter with a half court buzzer beater. She moves with high speed but changes direction with ease throwing off her opponents. She was the leading scorer for the Bulls with 17 points. Sheree Gidney Sheree Gidney 5'10" | PF Hickory Ridge | 2024 State NC (PF, 2024) showed off some nice moves in the paint including a spin move to a pull up jumper that she drained with ease. She battles through contact even making an old fashioned three point play. She does well moving without the ball setting herself up beyond the arc to find her open teammates. She had a nice fake to get her opponents off of her responding with a knockdown jumper. Kaitlyn Walters Kaitlyn Walters 5'8" | CG Hickory Ridge | 2022 NC (G, 2022) was all over the court on defense constantly flying in on dead ball situations tying it up to regain the possession including three steals. She hustled back in transition to prevent her opponents from scoring on a fast break.
Jasmine Fearne Jasmine Fearne 5'11" | SF Hickory Ridge | 2022 NC (SF, 2022) came off the bench contributing right away with her drives baseline for some points. She was phenomenal at faking and driving around her opponents, and she didn’t hesitate to show off her shot from three. Her height made it easy for her to get inside and grab some boards.
Gabreyel Cook Gabreyel Cook 5'8" | CG Hickory Ridge | 2022 NC (G, 2022) was a force on defense grabbing steals and causing deflections on the Bulls’ press. She was definitely the loudest on the court talking on defense making sure her opponents knew where she was to help and where they needed to move to help the team. She made sure to get in on the shooting action from deep.
Now, it’s time to look at the Cox Mill lineup.
Ariana Perry (G, 2023) came right out from the jump getting herself set up for her three point shooting, and she made sure she continued to show that again in the game. She did well handling the ball driving hard to the basket, and she has a lethal spin move that gets some space between her and her defender.
Kylie Lewis (G, 2022) was making plays with ease whether she was grabbing the rebound and making nice passes up the court, or she was finding open teammates underneath the basket to get them some points. Her length was a problem on defense constantly deflecting passes and slowing down her opponents’ offense. She was the leading scorer for the Chargers with 13 points.Lauren Farrell (SF, 2025) had a strong second half for the Chargers. She already has good size, and she knows how to seal off her opponents to get the entry pass. She did well following shots knowing how they would bounce off the rim to grab the second chance opportunity or end the possession for her opponents.
