This edition of OAH is the City of Life Warriors. A small private school from Kissimmee, Florida. In the recent years, the Warriors have been one of the more competitive schools for girls’ basketball in the Orlando Area. So far on the 2021/2022 season the Warriors have had wins versus Windemere High School and Florida Prep, with big games upcoming versus Tampa Catholic and International Community School. City of Life is Coached by the enthusiastic and energetic long-time Coach Ray Buggs. Here are a few players that stood out:
Karyna Rivera 2024 5’5” PG. Rivera, a lanky guard that controls the floor for the Warriors. She is averaging 20 points per game in the season, while grabbing 3.2 rebounds per game. She has a nice outside jump shot that she frequently displays. Also, she can consistently find her teammates for open shots. As Rivera is only a sophomore, she has a few years to continue to work on her game. Look forward to seeing improvement in the coming years.
Talia St. Hilaire 2024 5’6” SG. She is a very aggressive defender that shows great range, with tons of discipline defensive fundamentals. St. Hilaire is a smooth to the basket, that attacks with awide variety of finishing moves. So far in the thirteen games, she is pouring in 11.2 points per game, snatching 7.3 rebounds per game and dishing out 2.7 assists on the season. For being 5’6” she rebounds very well. Teaming up with Rivera for the next few years, this duo hopefully can have some success on the court.
Kaitlyn Harkema 2023 5’6” SF. Harkema, has a nose to the ball, consistently diving on the floor and getting to the loose balls. Hustles on every play, plays within the team concept. Can hit the mid-range jump shot from time to time. The junior is grabbing 3.2 rebounds per game and shooting 50 percent from the free throw line.
