Pasco vs. Chiawana: Game Review

The most anticipated game in the Tri-Cities and possibly the state went down on Friday between undefeated Pasco and 8-2 Chiawana. Pasco entered into the game as the favorite with superior guard play and experience, but Chiawana’s superior size and home court advantage in front of a packed house made this one match up to the anticipation. Pasco used a huge fourth quarter to take down Chiawana behind [player_tooltip player_id="27930" first="Mya" last="Hatchett Groce"]. <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Hatchett Groce On Mission For League MVP</strong></span></h4> The unsigned 5’7 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="27930" first="Mya" last="Hatchett Groce"] is playing the best basketball of her career. She finished with a game-high 28 points in this one scoring from all levels, while also playing lock down defense. Hatchett Groce is averaging 20 points per game and nearing 1000 points for her career. She is the best player on the number one ranked 4A team in the state. She is still available in recruitment. <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="367327" first="Malia" last="Ruud"] of Chiawana a Problem Inside</strong></span></h4> 6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="367327" first="Malia" last="Ruud"] is the next up and coming post in the state of Washington. She has great size, free throw shooting touch, offensive rebounding presence and post defensive presence. Ruud is a 20-10 machine as just a freshman and I look forward to seeing her take the next steps in her development. <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Chiawana Has Another Freshman to Watch</strong></span></h4> 2025 6’0 SF [player_tooltip player_id="376913" first="Kaia" last="Foster"] is a 6’0 small forward for Chiawana is a freshman to keep an eye on. She has some length and three point shooting ability and did knock down three 3’s in a row in this game. <h4><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Other Pasco Prospects</strong></span></h4> 2022 5’8 G [player_tooltip player_id="144533" first="Taleya" last="Maiden"] of Pasco High School is a great defender and transition player that can do a little bit of everything on the floor. 2022 5’10 C [player_tooltip player_id="27940" first="Taija" last="Mackey"] is another unsigned senior that can help a small college program with her physicality, rebounding and inside presence. Lastly, 2023 5’3 G [player_tooltip player_id="115408" first="Leanna" last="Lepe"] has shown some flashes with her quickness and ability to knock down shots.
