established herself as Chiawana’s dominant rebounder, finishing the tournament with 29 total boards. She was a workhorse in the paint, using her size and footwork to carve out position against opposing players. Her most impressive performance came in a nine-rebound outing against Glacier Peak, where she controlled the paint and played a crucial role in her team’s defensive efforts. Ruud’s rebounding was instrumental in limiting opponents’ second-chance points and helping Chiawana stay competitive.

Malia has been dominating the varsity level over the past couple seasons and has become one of the best, if not the best, post player in the entire state. She has a soft touch around the rim and knows a plethora of post moves in order to get open. Against Kamiakin, she dropped 24 points while also surpassing the 1,500 points scored mark in her career.

The Chiawana forward is a focal point of their offense and can score in multiple ways down low. She has the strength to bully through defenders and finish but also has some elite post moves to split defenders, create some contact and space and finish. But it’s not just her skill and strength down low, it’s how she moves to get good position and the patience she shows to repost, move block to block, and gain an advantage before she even has the rock. To make things even tougher on defenses, she is also a threat to knock down shots outside and is a dynamic post player who’s signed on to play at WSU next year.

People should already, and already probably do know Malia but in a post about true post players, the best one in the state needs to be included. Ruud is calm in the paint, waiting for the ball and always working to get open. She plays physical and has a soft touch around the rim, finishing at a high rate through traffic down low. She has been dominating for the past couple seasons and will have an even bigger senior year. I am excited to see her growth during the month of June.

Malia is a top player in the entire state, having elite skills on both ends of the court. Her desire to win and help her teammates is what stands out to me. She treats all her teammates equal and is a fantastic vocal leader on the court. She finishes around the rim easily, utilizing her elite footwork. She has been gaining more D1 coaches attention, receiving offers from UTSA and Furman.

She steps out and knocks down mid range shots and the three with ease, scoring at all 3 levels at a high rate. Ruud is a lock down defender too, handling the paint nightly with no problem.
