Through its Magical Stream Machine, Prep Girls Hoops Missouri had the opportunity to watch the first two days of action at the Pete Hile Tournament, which is held at Truman High.
Here is a look at the top Class of 2022 guards and wings at the tournament.
[player_tooltip player_id="107958" first="Averi" last="Kroenke"] (Rock Bridge): The 5’11” Mizzou recruit displayed her talent and leadership ability in pacing the Lady Bruins to a pair of wins and a berth in Friday’s championship game. Her height and strength make her hard to stop when she gets into the lane for layups or pull up jumpers. She will also find the open teammate with pinpoint passing.
[player_tooltip player_id="187637" first="Saneea" last="Bevley"] (Blue Springs South): The 5’7 guard was impressive in the Jaguars opening game against Rock Bridge with 14 points. She had good pace to her game, but was smooth and under control with it. She had some nice escape moves, a mid range jumper and she hit a 3-pointer.
[player_tooltip player_id="108031" first="Tasia" last="Johnson"] (Lee’s Summit West): The 5’7 point guard scored 16 points in West’s opening game against St. Thomas Aquinas. She does a good job staying in attack mode throughout the game. She changes directions well and she scored on some tough takes to the basket. She also defends with a lot of energy.
[player_tooltip player_id="252304" first="Christina" last="Maltsberger"] (Rock Bridge): The 5’9" guard was the top perimeters shooter that I watched during the first day. She hit five 3-pointers in the Lady Bruins’ opening victory over Blue Springs South. She got to her spots and was knocking shots down one after one.
[player_tooltip player_id="173426" first="Stevi" last="Yancy"] (Raytown): A solid 5’5 point guard who has good 3-point range when she gets the time and space. She anticipates well on defense which enables her to be in the right position to make a steal.
Victoria Jones (Raytown): A 5’6 point guard with good quickness and long range shooting ability. She also has a smooth hesi moves that freezes defenders in their tracks on her way to the basket.
