Massive update to the class of 2022 as we have had some level of normalcy in area basketbal. There are several players that showed they took advantage of their time off to bump up their skill level. This hasn’t gone unoticed as seen in several shifts in the player rankings. Here are some notable stockriser updates.
Hannah Dereje Hannah Dereje 6'3" | PF Elizabeth Seton | 2022 State MD – 6’3″ – Power Forward – Elizabeth Seton #47 to #23
Hannah made one of the biggest leaps moving up over twenty spots to number 23 in the class. Her progress had been slowed by an injury last year but the Elon commit has came back stronger than ever showing that she can carry the inside in one of the nations toughest high school conferences. She is still wearing a brace on the knee but I seems more of a mental than physical thing.
Zy’aire Hairston Zy’aire Hairston 5'7" | PG Dunbar | 2022 State MD – 5’7″ – Point Guard – Dunbar #78 to #23
Zy’aire is a true point guard with excelent vision and decision making. She is a player that you’d have to see to appreciate as stats don’t tell the full story with her. Locked into a D.C. publick school this playmaker may not always have the compliment of players to distibute to as some other point guards but she makes everyone around her better.
Ja’la Bannerman – 5’6″ – Point Guard – St. Frances Academy #88 to #21
Ja’la made the biggest jump out of any player in the class, in part because SFA has been doing their duty with a very aggressive schedule. She has a quick first step and that opens up so many things for her. Defenders seem to give her room for fear of getting beat and when her shot is on she is a handful to cover.
Ny’Ceara Pryor Ny’Ceara Pryor 5'2" | PG Western | 2022 State MD – 5’2″ – Point Guard – Western #6 to #3
Ny’Ceara has been destroyng team after team this season. It seems unreal when you study her size compared to conventional wisdom how she consistently puts up 30-40 point games, especially when you know it’s coming. She has most certainly broken several scoring records this year that may never get recorded because of limited tracking due to the pandemic. Sacred Heart will certainly have fun and their hands full adding up their commit’s stats on the next level.
Delaney Yarborough Delaney Yarborough 6'3" | PF McDonogh | 2022 State MD – 6’3″ – Power Forward – McDonogh #29 to #13
Delaney has been excerting the size and strength that she has possesed since middle school on teams. She looks very confident and more mobile that ever now. She is finishing with authority and making free throws. She is commited to Stony Brook and shouldn’t have any trouble landing on several all conference teams during her career.
