Dayton D3 Sectional MVPs

Over the weekend, Haleigh and I covered the D3 sectional finals (also known now as the district semis here in the Dayton area), and we will focus on some of those players who caught our attention. One final was held at Northridge where Greenon is heading to the district finals, and over at Covington it was Waynesville and Preble Shawnee who advanced. Today I will look at the 5 MVPs from the three D3 sectional games Tomorrow I will look at some of the shining seniors who stood out over the weekend. <strong><span style="font-size: x-large;">Jim’s MVPs!</span></strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="92539" first="Hailey" last="Unger"], 5-9 2022, Arcanum- </strong>She showed her skills quickly as she dropped 25 in their loss. Hailey <i>(feature photo above) </i>has some great offensive skills, an incredible perimeter game, There is not another shooter in Ohio I would take ahead of Hailey as she is deadly from behind the arc. Even when she had to sit with four fouls, she came in and tried to bring her team back with a pair of deep threes late in the game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="270523" first="Campbell" last="Jewell"], 5-6 2023, Preble Shawnee- </strong>What a show Campbell put on in the Shawnee win over Arcanum ro advance to the district finals. She took control of the game with incredible floor leadership, handled the ball well, hit a couple of perimeter shot and answered the call at the free throw line. The best pure athlete I have seen so far this post season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="269816" first="Isabella" last="Cassoni"], 5-6 2022, Waynesville- </strong>What a leader Izzy is from the guard spot. She had the best handles I saw this weekend, runs the show like no other and not only can score from the perimeter, she also has an effective midrange game. She exemplifies hard work and loves to play in an uptempo style of game. <strong>Abby West, 5-8 2023, Greenon- </strong>Abby is a big time hidden gem when it comes to the state level, but having known about her since her freshman year, I am not surprised how her game has grown. She has a great demeanor for the game and is very skilled. She is a scoring threat from anywhere on the court, can beat you inside or out with good range. Also can get to the rim. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="362299" first="Claire" last="Henry"], 5-7 2023, Greenon- </strong>The other half of quite an impressive duo for the Knights. They led Greenon to over 20 wins, and her game is rock solid. She is a great floor leader from the point guard spot. Very good fundamentals, moves well without the ball and knows where to be. Runs the floor well, and is a natural leader.
