These Regional finals will definitely test them all. From 80 to 16 teams left. Who will stand tall and make it and get that cool banner they hand out? The banner is nice and you get a pretty nifty state participant trophy that will hold your name at your school for years to come. Who’s gonna cut down some nets this year?
Close games
Bellevue vs. Cascade – Bellevue who upset Jesup looks to do the same to a tough Cascade crew who upset Grundy Center. Juniors Alyssa Lux and Devin Simon look to hold off the Comets. Ka’Lynn and Kalesia Deshaw look to play big together to reach wells fargo.
Regina Catholic vs. Mediapolis – Freshman Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5'9" | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA will be the difference maker for Regina. Junior Liz Lane looks to spark Mediapolis past regional play. Regina must rebound well and defend to advance. The bulldogs look to get turnovers and score a lot so this matchup should be close.
Players to Watch –
Maddax DeVault Maddax DeVault 5'8" | SF Nodaway Valley | 2022 State IA – Senior – Nodaway Valley – 27 points per game in the tourney so far. This long strong guard plays like a stretch forward. She is a tough matchup and is always attacking.
Jaeda Molle – Sophomore – Danville – 8 assists per game and 6 steals. This sharp little guard is quick as heck and can run your team.
Josie McCuddin – Junior – Interstate 35 – 24 points per game and 16 rebounds. She is dominating in the playoffs.
Ella Stene – Junior – Lake Mills – 20 rebounds per game in the playoffs. Center with great motor and effort.
Malorie McKinney Malorie McKinney 5'9" | PF Pleasantville | 2022 State IA – Senior – Pleasantville – 9 blocks per game. The power forward is a great rim protector. Rebounds very strong. Walking double-double that dominates the paint.
Mallory Leerar Mallory Leerar 5'9" | SF West Hancock | 2024 State IA – Sophomore – West Hancock – By far one of the most aggressive players in 2A. Sister left a big load to carry and she has had an impressive sophomore campaign and filled her shoes very well. High Impact scorer and lockdown defender.
Makynlee Yockey- Freshman – MVAOCOU – grabs a lot of rebounds and can shoot the three-ball at a high clip. The freshman started every game and looks to finish a fantastic first year.
