Brynn Washam, Mammoth Springs-A 5’10” swing guard that can shoot the three-ball. Brynn leads her team in scoring. Defensively she is quick to the ball and can go inside for a rebound. She has excellent peripheral vision and can dish off when double-teamed. She’s one of the top players in Class 1A.
Adrianna Corbett, Mammoth Springs-Another sophomore, Is a swing guard that can play inside. She gets most 50-50 balls. Very aggressive. At 5’9” she can play any position on the court.
Sara Crowe and Megyn Upton, Mammoth Springs-This due dominates in the paint for the Bears. Sara is a 6’2” sophomore with excellent footwork down low. She can receive the pass and score in the lane, or pass out of the double-team for a three-point attempt by one of her teammates. Megyn, at 5’10”, works very hard down low to get open and is strong enough to beat the double-team and score.
Renee Pittman, Kingston-Renee can light it up from the three-point line. Her quickness without the ball enables her to catch and shoot with success. She is the team leader and is like a coach on the floor running the offense.
Lila Hartness, Kingston-This swing guard is scrappy. She is in the middle of all loose ball situations and likes to drive the lane and score. Lila is very strong and displays maturity as a sophomore. She has to potential to be the team leader for the next two years.
The Norfolk Panthers defeated the Kirby Trojans in the second game 44-29. There were some excellent athletes on the court for this one as well;
Liza Shaddy, Norfolk-Liza was the best player on the court. She is a catch-and-shoot player, especially from the three-line. The ball is in her hands on every offensive possession. She is the team leader as a sophomore. Liza has an excellent basketball IQ. Defensively she anticipates and penetrates the passing lanes for steals and easy buckets on the other end. Put this athlete on your watch list!
Keely Blanchard, Norfolk-Keely is a combo point and swing guard. Very smart with the ball and doesn’t turn it over. She likes to penetrate and dish, but, at 5’10” can also go inside and be effective. She’s just a sophomore.
Kirsten Miller, Kirby-Kirsten is a 5’8” swing guard. Good shooter from mid-range. She’s the team leader as a junior and can guide her team back for another deep run in post-season play next season.
Mammoth Springs will meet Norfolk for the State Championship this weekend. Norfolk will need to shoot the ball well to eliminate the Mammoth Springs rebounding dominance in the paint. Look for this game to be very close at the end. Good Luck to all!
