5 Must See Division 1 Regional Semifinal Games

The district championships have been decided and we’ve moved on to regional play. I’m going to list 5 of, what I consider to be, must see Division 1 Regional Semifinal games.

Ann Arbor Pioneer vs. Brighton

Ann Arbor Pioneer:  1406

Brighton:  16-7

KEY PLAYERS

Lauren DeWolf Lauren DeWolf CG Ann Arbor Pioneer | 2022 State MI (2022, CG, Ann Arbor Pioneer)

DeWolf has always carried a reputation as a tough defender, but this season her athleticism and offensive game have really stood out. She’s can score in bunches for Pioneer and is an excellent leader.

Mary Copple Mary Copple 5'7" | PG Brighton | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Brighton)

Copple has had a statement season and people are beginning to see all that she offers as a player. She has in the gym range with amazing efficiency from behind the arc. Copple can shoot Brighton deep into the playoffs.

Clarkston vs. Lake Orion

KEY PLAYERS

Madison Skorupski Madison Skorupski CG Clarkston | 2022 State MI (2022, CG, Clarkston)

Skorupski has had an special senior season, proving to be a top notch senior player. It feels like she could drop 25 points a game, but instead is willing to pass up good looks for great shots, which is leading to W’s.

Taylor Dinda Taylor Dinda 5'7" | PG Lake Orion | 2023 State MI (2023, PG, Lake Orion)

Dinda is a very talented junior that has a high upside as a prospect. She’s a smart player that keeps turnovers low and makes high percentage plays. If Dinda plays her top game, Lake Orion can move on to the regional finals.

Farmington Hills Mercy vs. West Bloomfield

Farmington Hills Mercy:  18-4

West Bloomfield:  20-1

KEY PLAYERS

Maya White Maya White 6'0" | PF Farmington Hills Mercy Hills | 2023 State MI (2023, F, Farmington Hills Mercy)

White is a really good all around athlete. She’s slippery with the ball and a matchup nightmare for her opponents. White has the ability to score from all 3 levels.

Indya Davis Indya Davis 5'9" | SG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI (2024, SG, West Bloomfield)

While Davis can play a ton of different roles in just her sophomore year, we can’t forget that she can flat out shoot the ball. Mercy will have to make sure that she doesn’t get hot from the field.

Hudsonville vs. Byron Center

KEY PLAYERS

Jaci Tubergen Jaci Tubergen SG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (2022, SG, Hudsonville)

Tubergen became the defending state champs all time leading scorer. She’s an elite shooter and a game changer if she gets in a rhythm from behind the arc.

Avery Zeinstra Avery Zeinstra 5'7" | PG Byron Center | 2022 State MI (2022, PG, Byron Center)

The future Grand Valley State Laker is the definition of a seasoned veteran in high school. She’s won a lot of big games and succeeded in a lot of big moments. Her experience, leadership, and shooting will be a large part of a great matchup.

Parma Western vs. East Lansing

East Lansing:  17-4

Parma Western:  21-1

KEY PLAYERS

Reece Hitt Reece Hitt PG Parma Western | 2022 State MI (2022, PG, Parma Western)

Hitt has had a terrific high school career and is the top 3 point shooter in Western’s history. Her sharpshooting and senior leadership can lead Parma Western to the next round.

Ella Miller Ella Miller 6'0" | PF East Lansing | 2022 State MI (2022, PF, East Lansing)

Miller is coming off a 29 point performance is the district title game and she shows no signs of slowing down. Miller is a veteran leader and a versatile star. She can manipulate matchups and score from various spots on the floor.
