8 Key Players In The Regional Semifinals

There is a lot of high level talent playing in every division in Michigan’s state playoffs. Many of these star players can, and will, play a large part in deciding if their team moves on to the championship game. I’m going to give you 10 players that I think will be critical in tonight’s games. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="277651" first="Amanda" last="Barber"] (2022, CG, Gobles)</strong> The Game: Gobles vs. St. Joseph (7PM at Martin) Gobles is looking to extend their excellent season and move on to the regional title game. Who better to depend on than a savvy veteran? Barber is that veteran. She’s played in a big games and is a very steady player with a high basketball IQ. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147754" first="Gabrielle" last="Lutchka"] (2022, SF, Grass Lake)</strong> The Game: Grass Lake vs. Brooklyn Columbia Central (7PM at Hudson) Columbia Central is an elite defensive team featuring <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="357376" first="Zoie" last="Bamm"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147769" first="Tadassa" last="Brown"]</strong>. They’re a tough pair to maneuver around and can challenge almost every shot. That’s where Lutchka comes in. She’s a terrific shooter that doesn’t need a lot of space. If she can find looks and connect, it will be huge for her team. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="277635" first="Davai" last="Matthews"] (2022, PF, Wayne Memorial)</strong> The Game: Northville vs. Wayne Memorial (7PM at Matthews ability to play inside-out or outside-in will be incredibly valuable for Wayne Memorial. She can provide a very tough matchup against a scrappy Northville team. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189300" first="Shamya" last="Reid"] (2023, PG, Westfield Prep)</strong> The Game: Westfield Prep vs. Detroit Edison (7PM at Detroit Edison) This has the potential to be an instant classic type of game. Reid has probably the toughest matchup in the state against <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147713" first="Ruby" last="Whitehorn"]</strong>. Reid is a star in her own right though. When she’s a pest defensively and runs the offense efficiently, Westfield Prep can play with anyone. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="277650" first="Alexis" last="Snodgrass"] (2022, F, Hartford)</strong> The Game: Hartford vs. Schoolcraft (5:30PM at Hartford) Schoolcraft is a really tough basketball team and it will take a star type performance to knock them off. Welcome [player_tooltip player_id="277650" first="Alexis" last="Snodgrass"]. She’s a tough matchup that can play physical and score near the bucket as well as step out on the perimeter and go to work. If she can take advantage of matchups Hartford can advance. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="227588" first="Kylie" last="Summer"] (2022, CG, Lenawee Christian)</strong> The Game: Hillsdale Academy vs. Lenawee Christian (7PM at Mendon) I really like the way that this Lenawee Christian team is put together and their upside at playoff time. A big part of how far they advance comes down to their veteran guard. Summer is an absolute sniper from behind the arc and if she catches fire, her team is very tough to beat. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147745" first="Taylor" last="Thompson"] (2022, SF, Grand Blanc)</strong> The Game: Grand Blanc vs. Flint Carman-Ainsworth (7PM at Midland) Thompson is an elite top 25 prospect in her class. Thompson will be a huge threat offensively off the wing and Grand Blanc will need her A game offensively and on the glass against a tough Carman-Ainsworth team. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147727" first="Nevaeh" last="Williams"] (2022, CG, Mt. Clemens)</strong> The Game: Mt. Clemens vs. Genesee (7PM at Madison Heights Bishop Foley) Williams has had a Miss Basketball type of season and has been one of the most electric scorers in all of the state. Her team is facing off against a talented Genesee team and will need every one of her buckets. If Williams can speed the game up and get looks in transition, Mount Clemens could be a regional finalist. &nbsp;
