After an incredible girls high school basketball season, we were shown great play from players all around the New Mexico community. This included some elite talent and skill from some of the top forwards in the state from this past year.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353695" first="Lanae" last="Billy"]- 5’8 SF "Piedra Vista"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353695" first="Lanae" last="Billy"] led Piedra Vista to the 5A State Tournament this past season. <strong>Lanae</strong> averaged 21.2 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game this year. She was New Mexico’s 4th leading scorer in points per game this season. <strong>Lanae</strong> scored a season high of 45 points vs Miyamura on December 13th. <strong>Lanae</strong> had sixteen 20-point games this season and was one of the most consistent scorers in the state. She recorded four double-doubles this season with her all around play. <strong>Lanae</strong> averaged 4.0 steals per game which ranked 2nd in the 5A Class. [player_tooltip player_id="353695" first="Lanae" last="Billy"] was selected to the 4A/5A All-Star team along with receiving other accoloades this year.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353746" first="Zoey" last="Stewart"]- 5’4 SF "Dexter"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353746" first="Zoey" last="Stewart"] led Dexter in scoring this season averaging 15.4 points per game. Her play helped Dexer qualify for the 3A State Tournament and secure the 7th seed. Despite losing in the first round of the State Tournament, <strong>Zoey</strong> had a solid year. She averaged 7.1 rebounds per game and recorded seven double-douubles this season. <strong>Zoey</strong> averaged 5.1 steals per game which ranked 3rd in the state this season. <strong>Zoey</strong> had six 20-points games this season and a season high of 29 points vs Hagerman January 4th. <strong>Zoey</strong> was one of the best two-way players this year.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353899" first="Teona" last="Savic"]- 5’7 SF "La Cueva"</span>
Small Forward [player_tooltip player_id="353899" first="Teona" last="Savic"] played a huge role for La Cueva this season. <strong>Teona</strong> brought scoring, toughness and rebounding to the table this year. <strong>Teona</strong> averaged 7.8 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game this season. Her play helped La Cueva finish 21-7 this year and reach the 5A State Semifnals.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="403436" first="Shaela" last="Carrillo"]- 5’7 SF "Valley"</span>
Valley Forward led the team in scoring averaging 14.2 poiints per game which ranked inside the top 20 in the state this year. She also averaged 6.1 rebounds per game this season. <strong>Shaela</strong> had six 20-point game this year. <strong>Shaela</strong> shot a respectable 45% from the field and was Valley’s most consitent player this season.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353750" first="Adreanna" last="Eaton"]- 5’6 SF "Piedra Vista"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353750" first="Adreanna" last="Eaton"] had a solid season this year for Piedra Vista High School. She was the teams second leading scorer and rebounder this season. <strong>Adreanna</strong> averaged 11.9 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. Her play helped Piedra Vista qualify for the 5A State Tournament and secure the 15th seed. This season <strong>Adreanna</strong> had four 20-point game this year.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="403446" first="Doniah" last="Gruber"]- 5’9 PF "Piedra Vista"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="403446" first="Doniah" last="Gruber"] is one of the best Power Forwards in the State of New Mexico. She was Piedra Vista’s third leading scorer and teams leading rebounder this season. <strong>Doniah</strong> averaged 10.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game this year. <strong>Doniah</strong> scored in double-figures seventeen times this season and recorded four double-doubles.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="403553" first="Maricela" last="MacAuley"]- 5’8 SF "Penasco"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="403553" first="Maricela" last="MacAuley"] had a strong season this year for Penasco High School. Maricela averaged 10.0 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game this year. She had eleven games this season of grabbing at least 10+ rebounds this year and six double-doubles. <strong>Maricela</strong> ranked 8th in rebounding per game in New Mexico this year.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353752" first="Zoey" last="Brazil"]- 5’6 Mountainair"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353752" first="Zoey" last="Brazil"] had a solid season to close out her high school career at Mountainair High School. <strong>Zoey</strong> averaged 9.6 points per game and had ten games of scoring in double-figures. In a game vs Hondo Valley February 21st, she scored a season high 21 points.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353749" first="Larissa" last="Laborin"]- 5’9 SF "Centennial"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353749" first="Larissa" last="Laborin"] made a huge impact for Centennial High School this season. She averaged 9.2 points per gameand 6.8 rebounds per game this year. Centennial went 20-10 this season and made the 5A State Tournament. Centennial secured the 8th seed and made it to the 5A State Quarterfinals.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">[player_tooltip player_id="353766" first="Mariah" last="Maes"]- 5’9 SF "Sandia"</span>
[player_tooltip player_id="353766" first="Mariah" last="Maes"] had a solid season during her senior year for Sandia High School. <strong>Mariah</strong> averaged 8.5 points per game this season and scored in double-figures in 11 games this year. Sandia went 17-11 this season and made the 5A State Tournament as the 14th seed. In a game vs CIbola on January 4th, <strong>Mariah</strong> scored a season high 19 points in the teams win vs Cibola High School.
