Continue ReadingIn this article, we look at some of the impressive 8th graders who participated in the 2nd annual Demetrius Richardson Memorial Showcase. Some of these players not only played in the middle school game but also played in the high school games and were equally impressive. Many of these players will be main players on a varsity roster next year. Alanna Tatum Alanna Tatum 5'6" | PG University Christian | 2026 State FL played a major role in University Christian’s run to the final four in Division 2A this past basketball season.
Audrey Beyer 2026 G (pictured on left) was one of the stars of the day and drew comparisons to Emily Rische. Beyer knocked down some long-range threes and made some impressive baseline floaters in the game. Beyer can score on all levels and she is not hesitant about putting the ball up. She has great length and can really elevate on her jumpers. She can handle the ball and drive left and right. She has the whole package and her Freshman season next year is going to be a fun one to watch on the First Coast.
Madison Mansell 2026 G (pictured on right) shot the ball really well at the showcase. Her ability to shoot the long ball was impressive. She was lethal from the 3 point line knocking down over 4 or 5 three-pointers in the game.
Brie McCoy 2026 F really looked good in the post. She played physical in the paint and used her size advantage to gain leverage and get buckets. She wasn’t just in the post throwing up stuff she did a good job of loading her shot and getting up quality shots. She was physical on rebounds and did a good job of getting the ball to her guards to initiate fastbreaks.
Denahli Keyton 2026 G has a high school body already and was one of the most athletic players on the court. Keyton has good handles and can shoot the ball from all levels of the court. She is strong with the ball in her hands and can finish at the rim with authority. She was really impressive shooting the long ball at the showcase.
Alanna Tatum Alanna Tatum 5'6" | PG University Christian | 2026 State FL 2026 G was a standout for the weekend. Tatum played varsity basketball as a Freshman at University Chrisitan. In the 8th grade game, her defense was far superior to her classmates. Tatum did everything: blocked shots, steals, fastbreak layups, mid-range jumpers, and some very nice assists.
Yahri Tyler 2026 G was a standout in the 8th-grade game as well as the 9th game. Tyler ran the floor very well and scored in transition from multiple spots on the court. Tyler has the ability to score in the paint and she has the ability to make difficult contested shots look easy.
Katelyn Barnett 2026 C had a nice outing at the showcase tournament. Barnett is a good rebounder and has good footwork in the paint. Barnett had some nice baskets around the goal. She was also strong with the ball on rebounds and was able to initiate transition with good outlet passes to her guards.
Imani Henderson F 2026 played well on the inside and was really good on defense, recording several blocked shots in the paint.
