The updated 2024 rankings drop with over 70 players in this addition. We can see there were quite a few players in the lab that looked to make an impact this season after their Covid shortened freshman season. A few players have emerged as some of top in the country. Here is a look at some players that have risen in the rankings.
2024 Stockrisers:
Tatum Greene Tatum Greene 6'2" | SF St. John's College | 2024 State MD – 6’2″ – Wing – McDonogh School
This is the obvious name that jumps out at you as Tatum rises from the bottom half of the top ten list to numero uno. She has the length and athleticism to compete at any level and her skill is on par with players on the college level. McDonogh has played an aggressive schedule this season and Tatum has performed at a high level against some of the top teams in the nation.
Leah Harmon Leah Harmon 5'7" | PG IMG Academy | 2024 State FL – 5’7″ – Combo Guard – Sidwell Friends
Sidwell Friends has risen to the top team in the country and Leah has been a key reason why. She is a primary scorer on a team with several primary scorers. Sometimes defense will forget until that are reminded with back to back three’s or a drive down the lane and it’s usually too late to do anything about it. Standing out on such a talented team helped Leah jump thirteen spots to #6.
Amaya Durrett Amaya Durrett 5'5" | CG Parkdale | 2024 State MD – 5’5″ – Point Guard – Parkdale
Amaya had been out of the limelight since her middle school championship game and it took a lot of searching to find her. Parkdale has been in a hiatus for a while but after seeing them undefeated in PG County mid-season they drew my attention. Seeing Amaya putting up 20 point plus games in the box score made it make sense. Watching her run through some of the county players won’t give you an appreciation for her talent. Her summer circuit will dictate how much more movement up from the #12 spot she can rise.
Taylaya Walker – 5’9″ – Wing – Good Counsel
Talaya is a big reason that the Falcon’s can now sit amongst the elite at the WCAC dinner table. Coach Kimbrough gives her the freedom to use her size and skill at the wing and she shows her talent without being selfish or overbearing. She is a solid player that molds to the chemistry of the team as she drops in at the #11 spot.
Ava O’Neil Ava O’Neil 5'6" | PG St. John’s (DC) | 2024 State MD – 5’6″ – Point Guard – St. John’s College
Ava is a pure point and a good shooter and now she is a WCAC Champion. She plays under control staying within the scheme of the team. She gets the ball to her teammates in position to score with crisp accurate passing. She is doing enough while getting the experience in to be one of the conferences top point guards by her senior year.
