Riley Ahrens Riley Ahrens 5'10" | SG Delran | 2023 State NJ (Jr.) – 5-10 G/F, Delran
You’ll be seeing plenty more of Ahrens this spring/summer in the AAU scene, but this versatile junior had herself quite the season, capping it off with a 14-point game in a semifinals loss. She’s already on our top 2023 prospects list, but she’ll be moving up most definitely before our next update. She can score in a number of ways, she can rebound, pass, block shots and force steals. Ahrens is the entire package as a player.
Kylee Ferranto (So.) – PG/SG, Haddon Heights
Ferranto transformed into more of a shooting guard this season for Haddon Heights, as roughly 60 percent of her scoring came from three. However, that turned her into a more effective scorer overall and she fit well into the Garnets’ system. Listed as a point guard, Ferranto is very much a combination of that and a shooting guard. It’s worked well for her so far, but let’s see if she can mix more midrange shooting into her offensive game in the sectional final.
Bridget Dickson (So.) – G, Sterling
Sterling’s cinderella run continues now into the sectional final and Dickson is a major reason for that success. She put together another solid performance in the semis, scoring seven points along with four assists. She’s expect to take senior Tori Wilsey’s role next season and she already seems primed to be a leader for Sterling. Dickson is the kind of impact player that a team like Sterling can really ride momentum off of.
Isabelle Toland (Fr.) – PF, Middle Township
Toland had a smaller role in the semis against Sterling, but her presence was still felt in the middle. She’s been a backup forward option for Middle Township this season, but has grown into a more confident player who can man the post well. Her current scoring averages hover around the 3.0-4.0 PPG mark for the year, but what’s exciting to see is her all-around agility on the defensive end and her tenacity on the floor.
Mackenzie McDonald (So.) – PF/C, Sterling
McDonald transition from a bench player to a starter this season has been incredibly beneficial for her overall development. She’s had a much better handle on how to maneuver the paint as the year has progressed. McDonald is drawing contact in the lane and isn’t afraid to use her size to find a way to the foul line. She’s playing fearlessly on the floor and is not backing down defensively to opponents. The more she pushes that tempo down low, the more she’s going to get opportunities to score.
Gab DiOrio (So.) – SG, Haddon Heights
DiOrio has been a stellar three-point shooter for Haddon Heights this season, but unfortunately hasn’t had the same impact so far in the playoffs than her regular season production. She plays best as a catch-and-shoot guard who will pull up from midrange or will drive into the lane as she finds openings. However, the majority of her game is played behind the arc. Her court awareness has been something that’s allowed her to find and pick out open spots on the floor, but also give her a better chance to cause mayhem on the defensive end.
