The twenty-three teams from seven states gathered for the PGH Circuit event at The HIVE Sports Complex in Edmund, Oklahoma, April 15-17 were stocked with talent and produced many terrific games. The event first team was composed of five players. Ten make up the second team. Enjoy the look.
Ashtynn Barrett, 5’8″, Oklahoma Christian (OK), Oklahoma Aces 2024 Vick – Barrett was among the best at using a jump step on the hoop attack to split defenders. In transition she showed speed, good extension, and the ability to finish with either hand.
Halyn Browning, 5’6″, 2025, Luther (OK), Team Trae Young 2024 – Browning is a solid, athletic ball handler, with good length. She also can hit the three ball with range. But what really caught my eye was her defense. Browning was one of only a couple players who actively helped on high screens to interfere with pick-and-roll action, which was extremely disruptive for ball handlers.
Tayten Dewey, 5’9″, Rawlins County (KS), 2024, Magic 2024 – All event Dewey was going up against bigger, stronger, and talented post players. Defensively she competed consistently well with them. She also used her strengths to make them work on the other end, punishing them with her transition speed, motor, and rebounding. She also showed plenty of shot blocking ability, including coming from the weak side to help on a driver. She also is quick to make a move off a block entry pass.
Hazley Grotjohn, 5’5″, 2025. Seneca (MO), Below The Rim 2024 – A physical player on both ends, Grotjohn really set herself a cut above due to her smarts to beat and attack traps. She does not freeze up or panic, always preferring attack mode because she knows there is someone unguarded on the other side. Grotjohn has strong handles and the quickness and control to whirl in transition.
Hiahni Howard, 5’11”, 2025, Stigler (OK), EYG 2024 – Howard is a good offensive threat from the block to three point line. And with her length, that can be a huge problem for other teams. She showed her quick feet working from back-to-basket (with either hand) as well as when trying to get into the lane from the perimeter. Offenses have to keep track of her because she does a good job of helping from the weak side for the shot block.
Emily Huxtable, 5’6″, 2024, Rampart (CO), P.L.U.T.O. Prospects 2024 – If you are going to guard Huxtable you can expect to chase on occasion due to her ability to back cut well. Additionally, she applies good fakes to help her hit a cutter with a pass. Huxtable will also bury a three on from time to time, use good speed and handles to lead breaks, and finish at the basket with either hand.
Hallie Kitchen, 5’8″, 2024, Broken Arrow (OK), Oklahoma Utmost 2024 – Kitchen is a very solid guard who uses her quick hands well on both ends. With her speed, handles, and passing ability she can get the ball down the floor quickly. Bigs like her ability to make the Fast, lob passes well, Really good vision, solid build, good hands, fast with thandles
Lindsay Pleva, 5’0″, 2024, Monarch (CO), BC Denver 2024 – Strong handles, moves well without the ball. Quick. Long limbed, tough, good hands catching in transition, and able to finish the challenged shot athletically.
Kylie Scott, 6’1″, 2024, Carl Junction, 2024, Missouri Legacy 2024 – @eilykscott Long and athletic, Scott showed transition handles with speed and finishing ability with either hand on both sides of the basket. She also has great hands. Scott already has a great frame but watch out as she gets stronger.
Jill Twiehaus, 5’10”, Oklahoma Swift 2024 Mathurin – @Jill_Twiehaus Peremeter shooter with terrific length and hops. She also catches well, especially around the basket, on the move and can time the rebound put back without first landing on the catch.
