This past weekend the Solon Cage Classic took place in the Northeast, OH area. Here is a look at the players that stood out:
Saniyah Hall 6’1, 2026, Guard, Westside Elite
The best player at the Solon cage classic was a eighth grader that played up on the varsity level competition. Hall can handle all types of pressure and has a great work ethic. She can play all five positions and guard them. Hall for her size handles the basketball extremely well and can play inside or out. She has great poise in her game defensively. Seniyah Hall is a special player and has the potential to be a big name. Keep all eyes on this young lady she is a problem and forced teams to face guard and double team.
Natalie Santoro 5’9, 2023, Forward, Great Lakes
Santoro has a good work ethic and motor that creates opportunities. She does not slow down in traffic. Santoro is a kid that you want on the floor because she gives your team a chance to be successful. She is one of few this weekend that stayed consistent. Santoro has great energy and is a communicator. She is in the right place at the right time. Santoro is a good character kid that is team first and plays her role.
Abbey Flannery 5’7, PG, 2023, Great Lakes storm
Flannery is a great shooter behind the perimeter. She can put the ball on the floor playing on and off the basketball. She has solid lateral movement staying in front when defending. Go to shooter, but brings more than shooting to the game. Flannery isn’t trying to be fancy she consistency wins by doing the basics and they just work for her. She doesn’t make the game difficult and plays the right way.
Minch has a high basketball IQ. She does a great job of reading the floor and keeping her dribble alive. Minch does a great job changing speeds. Minch has great footwork and scores from all three levels. She makes it difficult to stay in front of with her quickness. Minch knows how to create space and get to her spot. There are not too many more consistent guards that can stay in all game for the weekend and make things happen like Minch did during the Solon cage classic. This two sport athlete found a way to get it done this winter and will continue that with spring and summer success.
Mya White 5’10, 2024, Forward, Westside Elite
White is physical and does a phenomenal job around the rim. She is a strong rebounder and head boss of the clean up crew. White can run the floor and a tradition post player. She can shoot it from the mid range area and does a great thing owning the paint. White will be a force all spring and eyes should start keeping an eye on her. This young lady is a last of the true post that I had the opportunity to check out. She has a great frame and showed good footwork and playmaking abilities.
