Team Previews- Tippecanoe

I got to see my hometown Tippecanoe Red Devils scrimmage on Saturday, and they look to have another solid season. They have the returning Player of the Year in their league, good upperclassman leadership and a very promising freshman group expected to make an impact. The Red Devils will be challenged by Vandalia Butler to win the conference, and have aspirations to make a return trip to regionals and beyond this season.

Players to Watch

Mader is a top ten player in Ohio in the 2028 class, the reigning MVL Player of the Year and a D1 recruit offered by numerous coaches. She Has all the tools to take over a game either with a consistent perimeter game, or has the skills to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Very smart basketball IQ, incredible two-sport standout as she is also the top volleyball player in the league.

Right now, Mady is dealing with an injury suffered during her soccer season, and it is hopeful that she gets the good news on a return. She is the teams biggest three-point threat at nearly 40% last season. She has good handles and gets to her spots to be effective. Mady will continue her athletic career at Wittenberg playing soccer.

One of the more versatile players in the conference, Liv is another multi-sport athlete like everyone else in this preview. She is a very talented volleyball player, while on the basketball court, she is also able to come up big. Strong player with good moves at the rim. Able to defend and create mistakes, giving Tipp chances at that end of the floor. Love her leadership, she can be a difference maker.

Expect her to be among the top ranked freshman in Ohio when the first official ranking comes out in December. She is very skilled and poised under pressure, can handle the ball and distribute well. Great court vision and crisp passes. I project her to be the top freshman in the MVL coming into the season. Very good range, can be a major contributor to their attack this season.

Sleepers to Watch

Tipp's freshman class reminds me of the 2016 class when they were freshman. Very talented and Knick is right there in that mix. She has a long and athletic frame, showed me good fundamentals in the scrimmage yesterday and has a nose for the ball. Showed great hands around the paint, and has the ability to step outside to be a threat from the perimeter. This is one to watch.

The athleticism this young lady has is unmatched, and I think she will be one who will be counted on this season to be a factor in their success. She has a very good court IQ and awareness of what she needs to do. Can contribute in multiple ways, does the little things very well. Can knock down the three, create havoc on defense and is a coachible kid with a bright future ahead of her
