I pulled up to their practice this week and saw for myself the joy, tenacity, and passion these hoopers bring to the hardwood. Check ’em out!
Brianna Brownell, 5’9 G/F – Mount Mansfield High School Class of ’24
Brianna’s mid-range has been on automatic as of late. Her release is quick and the rotation on the ball is beautiful, moreover, she shoots most every good look and has the IQ to move it quick if the shot isn’t there. Brownell is fierce on the boards, and after the outlet she loves to beat defenders down the floor in transition. If you’re not at her court you still might hear her, she’s a great communicator on both ends of the floor, and we all know how valuable that is.
Yvonne Roberge, 5’7 G – Spaulding High School Class of ’23/VT Dream Dozen
Yvonne is a joy watch, as she is adept at puncturing the defense, getting in the lane, and playmaking. She’s sneaky around this rim and can manipulate defenders with pass fakes and eye fakes, giving her clean looks. If the defender holds solid, Yvonne doesn’t panic. She’s calm and in control around the paint, allowing her to make crisp passes for three balls or reverses. Defensively, Yvonne loves to put the clamps on when she’s covering the ballhandler. Gritty, quick, and strong, Roberge is a fun two-way player who can quietly control a game.
Hayden Wilkins, 5’7 G – St. Johnsbury Academy Class of ’24/VT Dream Dozen
It’s clear Wilkins is a natural who just loves to hoop. Offensively, her skillset is really polished; she has the ability to score at all three levels, she has keen vision, and the passing ability to drop dimes through tight windows. All that forces the defense into playing Wilkins straight up and rotating extremely well. Hayden isn’t afraid of a challenge on either end of the floor, she’ll go toe to toe with anybody. I expect the two-headed monster of Wilkins and Roberge to give opposing backcourts fits on both ends.
Allison Fullem, 5’11 F – Mount Mansfield High School Class of ’23
Allie is a modern forward who likes to play inside and out. Her height and length give her rebounding advantages and she is great at going up strong in the lane after an offensive board. Also, Fullem is highly capable of stepping out and hitting 10-20 footers whether in the half court or transition; her length and quick release almost ensure a clean look. Allie is Blueprint’s anchor in the paint with her strength and frame and will be a key to their success.
Serenity Clark, 5’6 G – Colchester High School Class of ’23
Clark is a quick little wing player who has a great sense of getting behind the defense. She likes to leak out, finishing tough looks in transition or dropping it off to a teammate for an easy two. In the halfcourt, Serenity is quick and decisive, keeping the rock moving with either a drive, kick, or cutting for a quick deuce. Clark is great energy player who keeps Blueprint’s offense aggressive and flowing. Scrappy on D too, Clark is a solid glue player for this fast-paced squad.
Cherise Shamp, 5’10 G/F – Mount Mansfield High School Class of ’23/VT Dream Dozen
Cherise is coming off a big high school season with honors on as a First Team All-State and VT Dream Dozen player. It’s Cherise’s inexhaustible work ethic on every play that often separates her from the pack; she can pick up full court on D, grab the defensive rebound on a miss, and push in transition for buckets on end. Her length allows her to snatch loose balls and boards she has no business grabbing while also disrupting passing lanes, shots, and the offense at large. Shamp’s scoring package continues to evolve, and if she can dial in her mid-range she’ll be a three level scorer. The kid’s got grit and she’s a pleasure to watch.
