McKenna Johnson McKenna Johnson 5'9" | SG Wilmot | 2024 State WI -5’8 G-’24-Wilmot Union-Midwest Elite
Johnson is a natural scorer at the high school level, and once the AAU season begins, nothing changes on that front. The lefty showed a level of confidence that anyone would envy. Even playing on one of the most talented teams I’ve seen, Johnson still shines. The lefty knows what she’s capable of and isn’t shy to show off her skillset. Against the Wolverinas, Johnson kept finding space in transition and got up a handful of 3’s, making most of them. Having the skill to be a special player is part of the battle. The trust she has in herself to perform like that against the high-level competition is equally crucial, and Johnson trusts the work that’s gone into her game. With good reason.
Isabelle Freisleben-5’11 F-’25-New Berlin West-Wisconsin Shooters
The forward out of New Berlin didn’t play a lot during the high school season. After what I saw from her yesterday, I’m not sure why. Freisleben is a skilled forward who can easily knock down a handful of 3’s a game with the opportunity. Her game is much more than just the spacing she brings as well. The New Berlin native battled against kids taller than her in the paint. She doesn’t back down from a challenge. The more I saw her play, the more intriguing she became.
Georgia Acompanado Georgia Acompanado 5'8" | PG Pius XI | 2025 State WI -5’7 PG-’25-Wisconsin Shooters
You won’t find anyone as aggressive as Acompanado. She isn’t afraid to attack a set defense or push the ball in transition. I’m not even sure she realizes how good she is in transition. Her coach wants her to do even more of it, and when you see how creative she is when finishing at the rim, it makes a ton of sense why that would be the case. The more comfortable she gets this summer shooting the ball, the more likely it’ll be that next season will be successful for her, and she was a much better shooter than I thought.
Trishena Brown Trishena Brown 5'9" | CG West Allis Central | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-West Allis Central-Playground Club
I was very wrong about Brown over the past season. I was never sure how she would play without carrying all the responsibility on a team. I realized that Brown plays with a freedom and intensity that was fun to experience. She was the most athletic kid on the floor, and she showed it at every opportunity. Brown blocked multiple shots in the paint emphatically and finished in traffic around the rim. I never knew just how springy of an athlete Brown was. However, seeing what she’s capable of in person made sure I won’t forget it from this point on.
