In the games I saw, here are five players who performed well and stood out on Day 1 of this phenomenal event.
Mary Meng Mary Meng 6'4" | C Midview | 2023 State OH , 6-4 2023, MAC Basketball 11th
Loved the way she moved in the paint, her size was difficult to deal with. Good defender both inside and out. Protects the paint and can stop penetration to the rim. Has a good touch around the rim. Definitely one who can help a team at the next level. Her stock continues to rise and look for a good spring with MAC.
Deja Evans, 6-0 2023, Philadelphia Belles 17U
Such a strong physical presence and she made herself known with a solid post game. She does a good job using her length to protect the paint, and has good footwork. Solid defender, good leader and a player who played well on Day 1.
Mary Hollensteiner Mary Hollensteiner 6'1" | PF Stone Ridge | 2023 State MD , 6-1 2023, Germantown Lady Panthers 17U GUAA
I really liked her ability to contribute to her team in a variety of ways. She has good handles and body control when she looks to create, but she is able to push north-south well. Can score at the rim, possesses good post moves and footwork. Uses both hands well.
Micala Reese, 5-6 2026, Cincinnati Angels 9th
Good young guard who played well in the Angels game tonight. Micala has a good perimeter game with good quickness. She is a solid athlete who showed the ability to slash and create. She showed a very quick first step getting to the rim, and was able to play through contact.
Gigi Bower Gigi Bower 5'9" | SF Olentangy Liberty | 2024 State OH , 5-9 2024, Ohio Elite 2024
She is no surprise to basketball scouts, as Gigi is one of Ohio’s best juniors as she is a guard with very good handles, and can light up the perimeter with deep range. She is a smart player with good basketball IQ. Can run the floor well and create in transition for her team.
