Philly Rise might have the two best players in New Jersey right now in [player_tooltip player_id="134645" first="Hannah" last="Hidalgo"] and [player_tooltip player_id="134644" first="Zoe" last="Brooks"], the No. 1 and No. 2 players in PGH NJ’s 2023 prospect rankings.
If you haven’t seen the work they’ve put in during the high school season, let’s just say the two were spectacular and must-watch basketball whenever they were on the floor.
Hidalgo averaged 26.2 PPG for Paul VI this season and was a unanimous First Team All-Olympic Conference selection. She had four 40-point games and eight 30-point games on the year, doing what she does best as one of the top point guards in the country.
Brooks joined forces with [player_tooltip player_id="134626" first="Madison" last="St. Rose"] at St. John Vianney after the two battled it out last season between SJV and Trenton Catholic, Brooks’s former school. With the Lady Lancers, Brooks averaged 18.1 PPG, winning a state championship and TOC title.
It’s safe to say that both were playing at elite levels this season and that garnered the attention and respect of Team USA as the two were invited out to the US Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the U17 national team.

Brooks has been to this stage before, having tried out for the U16 national team last year out in Colorado, but Hidalgo is a newcomer to Team USA Tryouts.
It was a well-deserved recognition for the pair considering the work they’ve put in so far in their high school careers and the sheer amount of success they’ve had over the past three years.
Additionally, Hidalgo recently announced several programs that will be part of her 10-team shortlist, those teams being Stanford and Rutgers. The Cardinal recently won the national championship in 2021 while Rutgers has consistently been a powerhouse contender in the Big Ten over the past several years.

We have yet to hear any updates as to what Brooks’s college plans are or where she’s cut down her shortlist to. Stay tuned for future updates about that and more prospects in New Jersey this summer.
