Hundreds of the best AAU teams in the country are converging on AC for some great basketball, including the NJ Soldiers. The program, headed by Keith Palek, is sending two teams down to AC. We’ll be talking more about the 15U team in this article, who has one of the top freshman in the state on it.
Macie McCracken Macie McCracken 5'8" | CG Wildwood | 2025 State NJ – 5-7 CG, Wildwood (2025)
If you haven’t seen what McCracken did at Wildwood this season, take a quick look at her statistics because this freshman sensation put herself in elite company. She currently is ranked No. 6 in our 2025 class rankings for that reason alone, and for her impressive outside shooting. McCracken knocked down 65 three-pointers on the year and shot the three with confidence and ease. She already has quite the feel for the game and shoots with efficiency and effectiveness. McCracken can drive the lane just as easily and on defense, she’s just the person to come up with a key steal or make a big stop.
Reese Downey Reese Downey 5'7" | PG Absegami | 2025 State NJ – 5-7 CG, Absegami (2025)
From one top-10 2025 prospect to another, we go over to Downey, the new backbone of Absegami’s girls basketball program and one of the most underrated guards in the state. Her shooting is just incredible, but her ball handling is what caught our eye the most. This is a player who can carve up defenses at the drop of a hat, crossing up opponents, making split-second decisions with the ball that are unseen this early on. She has a gift for the game and plays with the confidence and maturity of a senior. That’s exactly what you should be looking for in a guard and Absegami gets to have her for three more years.
Kieran Brewster – 5-7 G, Holy Spirit
Brewster showed a lot of promise on the floor for Holy Spirit as a freshman, demonstrating an ability to score from the inside and the perimeter. We like her abilities to facilitate and rebound, though it seems she fits the style of a three and D player, making clutch plays offensively and forcing opponents into bad possessions defensively. Already, we’re seeing a more aggressive approach the the game from her, which has benefitted her thus far. The hope is to see more consistency in a number of facets to her game, but having this amount of success already as a freshman is a great sign.
Madelyn Adamson – 5-7 G, Ocean City
Adamson played a hybrid role for Ocean City, both starting and coming off the bench as the sixth woman, but she did well as a freshman. Her scoring, roughly five points a game, was a big contributor to a team that made a playoff push. Her confidence grew immensely as the season progressed and by season’s end, she became a relied-upon contributor for the Red Raiders. What’s going to be key for her moving forward is her positioning on offense, whether that be camping out on the perimeter for a shot or looking to make moves into the paint. We’ve been impressed with her work on both sides of the ball and her agility as well.
