The May Live Period was in full effect all over the country over the course of this weekend. In Council Bluffs, we have teams from all over playing against each other at the beautiful Iowa West Field House. Here are some of the top players I saw on Sunday at PGH Live:
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433820 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1722-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="189" height="189" />[player_tooltip player_id="344800" first="Ariana" last="Mosley"] </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| DC Queens</span></span>
Ariana was one of the best athletes in the gym, regardless of class. She did a fantastic job of penetrating and scoring at the rim or dishing it to her teammates for a bucket. Her defense was suffocating as she smothered the ball handler at all times. She passed it well with a strong one-handed pass in her arsenal. Major stock riser here!
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433821 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1720-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="187" height="187" />Ladaysha Baird </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| North South Basketball</span></span>
Ladaysha had some really clean and smooth handles that allowed her to get by anyone. She saw the floor very well and had some of the best passes I saw this weekend. In her bag, she has a really nice touch pass and she’s one of the few her age that really know when it’s time to throw a bounce pass versus a chest pass to her teammates.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="380911" first="Madison" last="Thomas"] </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| Colorado Sparks</span></span>
Madison was a highlight reel all weekend long. Something about those PG’s that rock a headband! Her handles were filthy with one of the best hesitation moves I’ve seen. She was the only one of two players I watched that could accurately and consistently drop a dime with a one-handed pass. Madison pushed the ball well in transition and also played really good help-side defense on the other end as a well-rounded hooper.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433822 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1746-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="190" height="190" />[player_tooltip player_id="374162" first="Olivia" last="Mortensen"] </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| BC Denver</span></span>
Olivia is a bucket that really pushes her team to the next level. She’s a strong lefty who just goes out there and flat-out gets it done. Her runner game was unstoppable as she was making some really tough buckets over the course of the weekend. On defense, she stays in the passing lanes and never takes a play off on either end.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433823 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1751-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="192" height="192" />Kaliya Fulton </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| North South Basketball</span></span>
Kaliya was finishing on acrobatic finishes in traffic this weekend. She can hit the outside shot, handle the rock, and has high level court vision. Her frame is strong and she played a physical game on both ends that made her tough to contain. One of the smoothest guards I saw in the gym.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433826 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1721-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="189" height="189" />Olivia Lawson</strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> | DC Queens</span></span>
Olivia is a lengthy wing that had one of the best shots I saw in Iowa. She has great form and really strong rotation on her stroke from deep. Her passing was a really nice surprise as she make a couple really smart and tough passes. On defense, she had active hands and crashed the boards hard.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><img class=" wp-image-433827 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/05/IMG_1759-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="189" height="189" />Marin Adams </strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">| Arkansas Athletes Outreach Flight</span></span>
Marin showcased some of the toughest finishes and moves I’ve seen. She’s mastered the opposite foot finish inside and the runner as well. Her frame is long and she has good height for a versatile player that can bring it up the court. Marin pushed the ball in transition without turning it over and had good court awareness with some touch passes ahead that led to points for her team.
