This weekend I am back in Louisville, but instead of focusing on a specific age group, I’m attempting to catch up with some Indiana teams I have yet to see this Spring, or those I just want to get eyes on one more time before everyone breaks for a June filled with team camps, elite camps, showcases, and all-star games. Below is a look at six individuals who caught my eye for one reason or another on Friday evening at Ohio Basketball’s “The Classic”.

, 2023, 5-10 SG, Daviess County H.S. (KY)
– Adylan had some standout moments in her matchup Friday night against Midwest Elite’s 17U EYBL team. She looks a little stronger, more explosive but also more controlled as an athlete, and she showed much better touch from the perimeter, including burying a big contested 3-pointer. She has tightened her handle a little as well, and she continues to be an effortful defender who uses her length and quickness to contain/defend the ball. She is primed for a big Summer, if she remains this consistent.

– Kaitlyn is a really nice talent who still remains somewhat hidden in a big program like North Central’s. She is a strong and bouncy athlete with some length, a great motor, and nice all-around skill. She can play physically in the lane, box out or pursue rebounds, and she’s a versatile defender who can take on some smaller ’5s’ at times or defend the wing as well. Offensively, she has some touch to about 17-feet, and if she makes that more consistent and even extends it to the arc, watch out.

, 2024, 6-1 C, North Newton H.S.
– To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time Makenna has played travel ball on a stage this big, and there are definitely some small colleges who would enjoy seeing her play. She has a solid to strong frame, good length, and she plays with a nice motor. She has some touch to the mid-post, but around the block she could stand to be a bit more immediate and instinctual. Defensively, she rotates to “help” fairly well, blocks her share of shots, and she is a pretty physical rebounder.

, 2025, 5-9 CG, Southridge H.S.
– I’ve seen a number of people talk about Avah this Spring, but this was my first time really watching her at length in game action. She has tremendous length, a wiry-strong frame, and she’s a naturally fluid athlete who is likely still growing. She has a 6-1 2022 sister headed to play in college, and she has a 6-5 2021 brother currently in the Chicago White Sox organization, so she definitely has genetics on her side. As she gets stronger and finishes growing, she will be dangerous, because she’s already very skilled.

– Meredith got an early promotion this Spring to the 17U division, and she has looked like anything but a Freshman to this point. She is a really nice athlete, she has a wiry-strong frame, good length, and she’s a really nice North/South athlete with good quickness. She is also an elite soccer player. She can handle the ball and run offense, she can attack the basket and finish through contact, and she can knock down rhythm jumpers consistently outside. I also enjoy her intensity defensively.
Madalyn Shirley, 2026, 6-0 PF/C, Evansville Central H.S.
– Tonight was my first opportunity to see Madalyn, and she is very intriguing. She has a long, wiry-strong frame, she looks like she has an inch or two left in her, and she looks like she should be able to add good muscle-mass throughout her career. What impressed me most about her is, she has a natural feel with her back to the basket, and she can step outside and knock down open jumpers. She is very skilled and has a nice basketball IQ, so once she finishes growing, she could be very effective.
