Alabama High School June Play Day Highlights &#8211; Mountain Brook

The Pelham Lady Panthers hosted one of the many play days in June and it was there that I got the chance to see and meet Coach Sara Price and the ladies of Mountain Brook. Coach Price going into her 3rd year at Mountain Brook is building a program that is a contender in 6A and Area 9. Coach shared that one of her top goals was after spending her first couple of years revamping her system to accommodate her young players, she is confident that this will be their breakout season. She is returning all of her players and they have worked very hard and have competed this summer; the players are now mature and have found their identity. When asked about who she is expecting to have that breakout season, it was the baby in the group; 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="328857" first="Libby" last="Geisler"]. Libby has been working extra hard in the off season and this summer will be travelling with The B Wright 2025 squad. She is an great shooter and will attach the basket if the defense gives her that opportunity. She has an extremely high basketball IQ. Then there is [player_tooltip player_id="330731" first="Emily" last="Straughn"], which is her 2023 player with the most varsity experience, having a 4.5 GPA and spending her summer playing with Alabama Heat Elite. Emily is THE 3 point shooter on this team, and can get it going with ease from deep. <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/Sarah-Passink-scaled-crop-1797x1180-1656435795.jpg"><img class="alignnone wp-image-452512" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/06/Sarah-Passink-scaled-crop-1797x1180-1656435795-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="157" height="103" /></a> 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="381460" first="Sarah" last="Passink"] is the PG and is very good at setting up the offense and making good decision based on what the defense gives. [player_tooltip player_id="381463" first="Emma" last="Stearns"] is a 2024 that can also shot, one of the many weapons in this Mountain Brook System. Coach Price has some younger players in the system and is looking at future that will be very bright.
