In the previous article, we touched base on some of the top guards in region 3 you needed to know before next season. In this article, we’ll show our forwards some love showcasing the best Region 3 has to offer.
[player_tooltip player_id="100453" first="Laikyn" last="Roney"] – Oakes – (5’9/SF/2023) – Roney was a force this year! She stepped right into the shows of Sadie Hanson upon her graduation and willed the Tornadoes to several big wins on the year. She averaged over 20 points this past season and looks to do the same this coming winter. With an added jump shot to her arsenal Laikyn could be big trouble for opposing forwards throughout Class B.
[player_tooltip player_id="316034" first="Christena" last="Walker"] – Ellendale – (6’1/C/2023) – Walker was impressive this year. She stepped up big for the Cardinals in a starting spot. She’s the type of player that can get you a double-double on any given night. She’s tall, athletic and surprisingly can shoot the ball. With some added muscle for post-play, I expect she’ll be a true dark horse for the Cards come next season. On the year Walker averaged just over 7 points and 7 rebounds a game with a block added for extra measures.
[player_tooltip player_id="100438" first="Kennedy" last="Harter"] – Kidder County – (6’0/PF/2023) – Kennedy really elevated her game from last year. She can knock down mid-range jumpers consistently and add some much-needed muscle. Throughout this year she looked like a legit D2 level player in adding an arsenal of post moves. Harter will for sure be one of the toughest forwards to guard and with her return, I think the Wolves have a legit shot at a Region 3 crown next year.
[player_tooltip player_id="219712" first="Mataeya" last="Mathern"] – EKM – (5’9/SF/2024) – Mathern is a force to be reckoned with! She’s for sure an all-state player on a Rebel team that practically returns everyone but 1 player from last year. Mataeya can do it all from defend to flat out score the ball. If she adds a deep 3 ball to her arsenal you better watch out for EKM as they’ll be primed for a state-run come next season.
[player_tooltip player_id="278881" first="Teagan" last="Erbele"] – Napoleon-GS – (5’9/PF/2024) – Erbele is a player that gets better every time I see her play. She’s an undersized big that packs a lot of power and a quick first step. Just when you think you have her figured out she hits you with another post spin move for an and 1 basket. Teagan is a lefty that can flat-out do it all. She’s returning on a solid Napoleon squad that struggled to find their footing this year. With some solid travel ball I predict Erbele shines again this coming season.
