Day two of Meltdown marked the start of the viewing period for division one schools. Plenty of kids showed out during the day at Hopkins, and I plan on highlighting a large portion of those kids.

[player_tooltip player_id=’266982’ first=’Lila’ last=’Posthuma’]

The Prescott native showed a lot of skill on the offensive end. She can score, attack, and initiate for her team at a high level. Her length also helps on the defensive end. She covers a lot of ground, stays in front defensively, and can block shots around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id=’209900’ first=’Sydney’ last=’Cherney’]

Energy changes the complexion of games, and Cherney brings all of that. Nobody ever beats her to the floor, and she lays out for the ball more times than I can count per game. The Reedsburg native earns extra possessions all the time. She’s a winning player.

Karsyn Nelson

I’ve always been impressed with how well Nelson defends, but she shot the ball well against North Tartan’s 16u EYBL runner-ups. She looked confident and fluid every time she pulled up to shoot. She looks like a different player than she was a few months ago.

[player_tooltip player_id=’374227’ first=’Rainey’ last=’Welson’]

Welson is one of the best 2025s in the midwest. She is an excellent shooter, ball handler, defender, and competitor. When she plays basketball, her team tends to be the one with more points at the end of the game because of what she does. She can play the one or two because of her vision and ability to score.

[player_tooltip player_id=’246149’ first=’Sophia’ last=’Hope’]

I haven’t seen many kids with a better turnaround jumper than [player_tooltip player_id=’246149’ first=’Sophia’ last=’Hope’]. She can do different things to get to that shot, but at the end of the day, her high release with a fade makes that shot hard to guard.

[player_tooltip player_id=’338951’ first=’Natalie’ last=’Mueller’]

I’ve always loved Mueller’s jumper, but what she’s done defensively over the last few weeks has been impressive. She stays in front of her assignment well and has more length than you’d think. Mueller contests and blocks shot attempts because kids are surprised she has that kind of range.

[player_tooltip player_id=’311376’ first=’Savannah’ last=’Gage’]

The Iowa native is quick with the ball and gets to the basket at will. She puts pressure on defenses when she beats her initial defender. Gage also balances her creation for herself well with creating for others.

[player_tooltip player_id=’209879’ first=’Trista’ last=’Fayta’]

The moment I saw a power-five point guard commit on the schedule for Fayta’s Purple Aces. I got excited. I knew I’d know where Fayta stood as a prospect after that game, and she passed that test with flying colors. She didn’t put a foot wrong for most of that game. She scored, hit cutting teammates in stride, defended her matchup, and looked like the best player on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id=’209609’ first=’Mya’ last=’Nicholson’]

There aren’t many shooters who can get hotter faster than [player_tooltip player_id=’209609’ first=’Mya’ last=’Nicholson’]. With her team on the ropes at Hopkins with less than five minutes to go and a ten-point deficit, the Janesville native got going. Her four 3s down the stretch helped her team win the game and eventually win their pool.
